Die Kunsthistorikerin Bahia Shehab war schon lange vom arabischen Schriftbild für "Nein" fasziniert gewesen. Als sich 2011 die Revolution in Ägypten erhob, fing sie an, "Nein" in den Straßen Kairos zu sprayen. Sie sprayte "Nein" zu Diktatur, "Nein" zu Militärherrschaft und "Nein" zu Gewalt.
