I have worked as an English teacher for several years in many subsidized/public schools and a few tertiary education centers. I'm currently teaching English to future EFL teachers.

teaching, learning, educational revolution,
Chilean state is trying to numb our minds through education policies. They are using social turmoil as a smoke screen to reduce the hours of history, arts and technology. They have included religious (catholic) texts in language. My idea is that they do this with the purpose of perpetuating the current power status, to hinder social mobility. And that they use mass media to create a state of fear so everybody accepts police/social abuse. While they criticize adolescents being sexually active, they promote sex though television and deny students the chance of sexual education, all with the secret purpose of keeping us living in a society that resembles too much the one from the 19th century. Education is promoted as the key to financial progress, but the cost is so high that keeps you in debt for life. Poor people pay up to 45% taxes and the richest of the richest pay less than 5%.
education, low cost tech for teaching, creativity in and outside the classroom.
singing, finding logical sequences, building some things.
I was switching careers, leaving veterinarian medicine for good and finding each time more passion in my new teaching career when I heard a very important Chilean journalist (Fernando Paulsen) talk about edge.org and an opinion he found there from Roger C. Shank "we should call schools off for good" "schools are bad for children" he wrote, he made a compelling argument in my opinion, the I started looking for similar opinions and bumped into Sir Ken Robinson's Ted talk "schools kill creativity", I couldn't believe someone so different, so far away from me in every possible way thought just like me, I had found validation and support for my own ideas, I was hooked. That was 2006 and I'm still here, dreaming of organizing my own TEDx.
