More About Me

I'm passionate about

Changing the landscape of education as we know it.

An idea worth spreading

We are all teachers and we are all students and we should take up the responsibility to continue being both throughout our lives.

Talk to me about

Changing the landscape of education. And, the power of language.

People don't know that I'm good at

...stepping out of my comfort zone. Even, or especially, when I'm scared.

My TED Story

I'm a teacher. In the passed years I've taught at very different schools from really bad neighborhoods to exclusive private schools. In 2010 I I co-organized the first side event of TEDxAmsterdam. After a year of being happily involved in several TEDx events, I felt it was time to move on an create my own TEDx event. What I had sought and found in TED&TEDxAmsterdam was exactly what the school system, in my perception, lacked: The freedom to change the existing landscape. My TEDx partner and I decided to bring TED&Education together, and TEDxAmsterdamED was born. The 1st event in Sep2013 was mindblowing, 2013 will be even better!

Sep 8 2010: There is actually already a similar event being held on 20 November on International Children's day. TEDxYouth. We are organising this event in Amsterdam and I know of at least Japan and LA that are doing the same. I'm a teacher and I'm also always looking for ways to find my students' talents and strengths.
