About Me

I am the Founder and Producer of TEDxMaui and an independent publicist, marketing, and social media consultant. I am based in Maui, Hawaii and I also work part-time from my office in Santa Monica, CA. My past and former clients include both regional and global brands.

From a very young age, I was recognized for my ability to be a great "people connector." I look for projects that allow me to be a passionate advocate of my clients work. There is nothing more exciting to me that watching my clients reach a wider audience and elevate their brand.

I have been so fortunate to work with businesses and organizations such as MoveOn.org, The National Council of Women's Organizations, The Blue Frontier Foundation, The Maui Film Festival, The Sustainable Living Institute of Maui, DJ Marques Wyatt, Suzie Cooney, +H2O, Paia Mediation, The Studio Maui, Paia Yoga, The University of Hawaii, The Aging with Aloha Coalition, and many more. I have placed clients in numerous national media outlets including USA Today, O: The Oprah Magazine, The New York Times, and NBC's Today Show.

I have frequently been invited to share my knowledge on marketing with organizations such as the Hawaii Pacific Export Council, The Maui Non Profit Developers Association, and Maui Preparatory Academy.

We are in the midst of great changes in the way we communicate and connect globally and it's a very exciting time to be working in this field. Feel free to reach out if you would like to learn more about my services.

My TED Story

I attended TEDWomen in 2010 andI was deeply moved not just by the speakers, but also by many of the people that I met. While listening to Dr. Elizabeth Lindsey speak, all I could think about was how many talented and remarkable people I had encountered on Maui. Yet, I would commonly hear people say things like..."there is no intellectual community on Maui." Dr. Lindsey was speaking about her work preserving the rich Pacific culture and knowledge that is slowly fading as elders die and modernization takes over. I wanted everyone on Maui to see Hawaiian culture through her eyes and begin to see the abundance of inspired talented people all around us on Maui. When learning more about the TEDx program, I tweeted with a friend that was following me on Twitter and I asked her if she'd want to do TEDxMaui. She immediately said yes. I applied for a license as soon as I returned to Maui and off we went. TEDxMaui has gone on to be a huge success and we working on our 3rd event now.

A comment on Talk: Lisa Kristine: Photos that bear witness to modern slavery

Aug 11 2012: I cant help but think that if we each carried a small card of one of these slaves faces around with us, our choices in what we do and what we consume would dramatically change. I look at all of the items that I own, and think how have my purchases contributed to slavery? All of us living in the modern world are contributing to this horrible reality. Its not that we are unconscious, but that this reality is so carefully hidden. The media, advertising, and marketing do such a great job of painting a rosy picture and making us believe we need more things. But thanks to Lisa Kristine and Free the Slaves, we get to see what is really happening. As the Founder of TEDxMaui, I am so honored to know Lisa and to play a small part in helping her work reach a wider audience. I am forever grateful and changed by this TED talk.
