A comment on Conversation: Which video do you recommend to watch on TED website? a one which is really fun to watch and new at the same time.

Jul 1 2011: Sir Ken Robinson's "Let's bring on learning revolution". Intriguing on which he questions and challenges the current state of education, mainly critiques about the "industrial model" (one size fits all) and his opinion about "agricultural model" who embrace every child's uniqueness

A comment on Conversation: TED dan Globalisasi

Jun 20 2011: Gabisa dipungkiri sih kalo saat ini "dunia barat" lah yg emang maju. But given that Chris Anderson himself spent his childhood in rural area in Pakistan, I don't think so.

  • A comment on Conversation: What kind of power can a film have?

Jun 14 2011: Actually, I'm interested at Citizen Kane. It's about critics to big media houses with the power to shape public opinion. I haven't watch it, but a friend told me that the film would cause major havoc to major medias so they use their power to gave the film bad reviews, and even tried to buy the masters of the film so that the film wouldn't be released.

In my opinion, a single film wouldn't make a big difference, but many films will do.
  • A reply on Conversation: As a TEDx organizer please share a best practices, an innovation, something incredible or something useful from your TEDx event.

Jun 7 2011: Yes, we in TEDxBandung do similar thing in our 2nd event (March 27). The night before the event, we invited some of our speakers for rehearsal, and after that some of them nicely stay together with the team throughout the night, sharing (and singing together), forming our bonds even deeper!

We realized that in TEDx, the regular attendees, speakers, and the organizing team basically are the ones that form the TEDx community, the differentiating points are that TEDx speakers are members who have the privilege to speak, and the organizing committee are the ones who have the privilege to organize the event.

A comment on Conversation: What is for you the SPIRIT of ENTREPRENEURSHIP??

Feb 15 2011: Persistence. I have a friend who has run 6 different companies, but all of them failed. And now he is starting his 7th company. Kudos for him!

A comment on Conversation: We need a political party devoted to maximizing the value of people's TIME.

Feb 15 2011: Fortunately for you, we in Indonesia are still battling for poor public service, slow administration (even for making ID or driving license). Some of the politicians has launched bureaucracy reform, but to me, it's no more than meaningless slogan. It's been a public secret that the bureaucrate have a creed: "if we can make it difficult, why make it easy?". Because the officials has power to "slow down" the administration, they, in some ways, can extort money from you to make the process faster. It's not fair at all.

I agree that time would be the ultimate resource in the future. It can't be stored, it can't be bought. But In Indonesia, it's still a long way to go. First, we need to tackle down those corrupt officials, making bureaucracy reform (with the techies, of course). And uniquely in Indonesia, we don't need that kind of party. We just need visionary leaders that believe in the importance of time and can change the administration he is supervising.

    Just my 2 cents

A comment on Talk: Theo Jansen: My creations, a new form of life

Nov 23 2010: He's sure a genius inventor, but a horrible presenter. Too bad.
  • A comment on Talk: Ken Robinson: Bring on the learning revolution!

Nov 19 2010: Well for me, being in Indonesia, I found this is very thought-provoking. Indonesia, honestly, still suffers what I call it "one right path" --> you're enrolled at fave schools, you admitted at top universities, you worked at top company, with prestige positions and high salary. And I believe that's something wrong with that, especially if one finds that it's NOT right for them.

C'mon, everyone is different. Tomatoes can't be nurtured in the conditions engineered for cabbages. And I think, that is the role of a teacher: to find out what is a child's true potentials, and helping to achieve something that child really potent AND interested.
  • A comment on Talk: Chris Anderson: How web video powers global innovation

Nov 19 2010: I rather interested in how web video returns us back to face-to-face communications. I agree with that, as face-to-face communications are one of the most natural form of human communications.

But, there are "unexplained" obstacle to achieve perfect face-to-face communications. You and Him are separated by a screen. That's, I believe, is a big obstacle. You can't feel the whole emotions, just a fraction of it. And of course, it's still 2D!

What can I predict is, in the future, the "perfect" face-to-face communications will be a virtual form of ourself projected to the receiver, just like what had shown at Star Wars.

    Just my 2 cents,
    Radix
