A comment on Talk: Sugata Mitra: Build a School in the Cloud

Feb 28 2013: I hope and pray this becomes a reality in my lifetime. I have been a long supporter of education reform and I believe this is the right direction to go. I still think we can involve teachers on some level (so we're not cutting out their careers) but we need to think differently and there has to be a universal push in order for this to happen. Without support from the community, it will just become a passing "fad" and not be regarded as "true" education.

A reply on Talk: Mitch Resnick: Let's teach kids to code

Feb 14 2013: I think the real challenge is do be able to do both. Spend time learning, exploring and interacting with computers, Internet AND the world around us is very possible and keeps us balanced. We love gaming, multimedia and design AND also enjoy camping, volleyball on the beach and swimming together as a family.

A comment on Talk: Edi Rama: Take back your city with paint

Feb 8 2013: Indeed a beautiful talk! The power of the paint can allows new values, ideas and appreciation to grow in places you wouldn't expect. There should be more initiatives in painting neighborhoods and taking back area mired in sorrow and loss and replaced with hope, love and self respect!
  • A reply on Talk: Joe Smith: How to use a paper towel

Jan 30 2013: Actually this is from TEDxConcordiaUPortland, an independently organized TED event. So this is not a TED conference presentation. With that said, I think it is still a great talk and think it would be appropriate in either setting. Don't forget, it's ideas worth spreading, and saving paper is always something worth sharing about... no matter how it is presented.

A comment on Conversation: We spend 3 billion hours a week as a planet playing videogames. Is it worth it? How could it be MORE worth it?

Feb 15 2011: I'm a casual gamer... I like to relax and have fun once in a while. So I think there will always be a need/outlet for that. Spending 20+ hours week, late nights, early morning, etc. was a thing of the past- but I think there should be limits. I enjoy regular live "people" games as well: (Uno, Phase 10, Dominoes, Pit, etc.) and I think we should add that balance in our gaming diet, too. It's good to mix it up...

I wish we could game for a cause or to actually build something. Or explore somewhere real. Perhaps a shooter where we take out the evil cancer cells... ??? To me there should be something we can reach together as a world team!! At least one goal?? Or is this wishful thinking?
  • A reply on Talk: The LXD: In the Internet age, dance evolves ...

Mar 19 2010: Agreed. And their love for dance and music is expressed through that very essence. Very moving and beautiful performance! I would love to see them in person. Perhaps a tour one day!
