My TED Story

I was introduced to TED in 2010, when I watched a TED Talk in my Computers class. Every since, I've been watching TED Talks and been really inspired by them. In 2011, a friend of mine introduced me to TEDx and together, the two of us got approval from our school to apply for a license. All this together took 6 months to fall into place. Our license was finally approved on 26th September 2012 and our event on 16th February 2013. Man, organising a TEDx event was something we were so excited about that it left us blinded as to the amount of preparation and work it takes. Many people said when TEDx came into my life, everything else just stopped. My prime focus and attention was towards the event and then, the event came and it was a success! The audience summed it up for the speakers, "They came, they spoke and left us exhilarated."TEDx really changed my life because I've not found such passion for anything else in life, I'm just waiting to reapply and have yet another amazing experience.

A comment on Conversation: How can a global business create a fulfilling relationship with a local community?

1 day ago: Let's first understand the concept of globalisation:

Globalization involves the diffusion of ideas, practices and technologies. It is something more than internationalization and universalization. It isn’t simply modernization or westernization. It is certainly isn’t just the liberalization of markets. I would have described globalization as ‘the intensification of worldwide social relations which link distant localities in such a way that local happenings are shaped by events occurring many miles away and vice versa’. This involves a change in the way we understand geography and experience localness. As well as offering opportunity it brings with considerable risks linked, for example, to technological change.

Mar 8 2013: What an amazing concept! Magic that uses technology, something that has a larger picture and such a defined underlying meaning. Simply beautiful.
