When i was 7 years old was first exposed to service by acompaning my dad to do volunteer work at an elders care center. At 14 years old i started travelling to other countries to do educational and medical missions, which really allowed me to get a wider perspective of the world and sparked an interest in margenalized communities. This interest allowed me to get involved in an enviromental/human rights movement for the Island of Vieques, Puerto Rico. As a community facilitator as part of an art project it allowed me to live in 20 different communities of Puerto Rico. While i was doing that i always took time to visit other countries like Venezuela, México, Nicaragua and Dominican Republic. These travelling opportunities opened doors for me to coordinate medical missions to Ghana, África and Guatemala. I am currently studying a Master's Degree in Sociology and working as a coordinador for the youth prevention program Brega Bien where we provide prevention and education skills, as well as media tools for high risk youth between the ages of 13 - 24.
I am passionate about social justice, service, transformation, compassion, humanity, spreading love, all done creatively through inclussion.
There are many conversations about a need of a better economy, need of new spaces, need of technology...however the need for affection/love will slowly surpass the others.
Talk to me about creative ways we can empower and transform.
At interior design, styling, gardening, listening, spoken word and choosing good music.
We are really interested to represent and realized the Ted-x Youth Day for the benefit of the youth that lives in marginalized communities of Puerto Rico. Trough this experience we can put our communities in touch with education and interesting social topics that affects our quality of life. This is why we want Ted-x Youth Day to be a real and accessible activity for us.
