Shanna Edberg is a recent graduate from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) concentrating in Latin American Studies and International Economics, and is the former president of the SAIS Gender and Development Forum. She spent much of this year researching gender discrimination and violence in Mexico, and is deeply interested in the intersections between poverty, race, and gender. Shanna interned last summer with Bosques Amazónicos in Peru, which is working to preserve the Peruvian Amazon and improve the lives of local forest communities.
