An idea worth spreading

It may well be that breakdown is needed before civilization can be renewed... but working on a smooth path of transition is everyone's task at this critical juncture in history. Prepare for the worst, work for the best.

My TED Story

Curiosity lead me to explore things, ideas, patterns, systems, events and personalities... not too long after pursuing that path... I see mountains... one of them is TED.... Climbing it has been challenging, rewarding and enriching.

  Jun 17 2011: Berita tentang chaya-chaya briptu Norman tempo hari sampai juga di Prancis (tahu dari teman saya)... apakah itu artinya, telah terjadi fenomena "globalisasi umat manusia" (not sure what this means though)?... Atau dia hanya bentuk lain dari upaya memperluas "globalisasi" bollywood? :-)
  
  'Globalisasi' is an overused word. If something good happens and it spreads like wildfire across the globe... it can only mean good for mankind as a whole... but as is with most anything else... generalization doesn't help much. Always look at it critically on a case by case basis... imho.

  A comment on Conversation: As a TEDx organizer please share a best practices, an innovation, something incredible or something useful from your TEDx event.

  May 20 2011: A week before an event, host a "speakers dinner"... inviting the speakers and core team members to have a friendly chat over great food.
  
  Helps bond speakers and team. Aside from being a good break from all the (busy) prep work (both on the speakers' side, and on the team's side), it also results in better chemistry and flow between speakers/talks during the event
  .
  This is something our co-founders at TEDxJakarta (http://www.tedxjkt.org/team/) originated in the early days. Hope it works out nicely for your TEDx too!

  Anyone dealing with statistics should be empowered with the tools and techniques to present data like what Hans is doing in this insightful presentation. Am now exploring his initiative to bring all publicly funded database into the fore via www.gapminder.org.

• A comment on Theme: The Rise of Collaboration

  Jul 15 2008: "dotSub ~ Any Film Any Language" looks like a perfect tool to translate and display TED talks. Check it out at dotsub.com. I've used it to voluntarily translate some of GlobalOneness Project's videos to my native language. The interface is intuitive and makes translation work very easy to do.
