Andrew Hawkins is a performer, director, producer and writer in the Washington, DC area. His work has been seen with the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, Source Theater, Theater of the First Amendment, Industry Gallery DC, two Capital Fringe Festivals and with George Mason University, where he earned a B.A. with honors in Theater and in English. Mr. Hawkins has also studied with The Kennedy Center and with the University of the Arts. He is a founding company member of DC's Blacktop Theatre Company. Internationally, Mr. Hawkins has studied with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and has been an independent researcher at The British Library. In 2011 Mr. Hawkins collaborated with a Peace Corps volunteer on a project entitled Tell Me Something, in which they led a team of artists into rural Costa Rica to faciliate theater workshops with at-risk youth. A native of northern Virginia, Mr. Hawkins spends some of his free time teaching violin to young students and learning how to cook from his French grandmother. Later this spring, Mr. Hawkins will hold an internship at the Cannes Film Festival in the Côte d'Azur
