About Me

Founding member of NeoHumanitas, a think thank fostering discussion about future and emerging technologies. I am also Ph.D. Candidate in “Biomedical Ethics and Law”. After finishing my master’s degree in Vancouver, Canada in which I looked at some ethical aspects of human enhancement, I decided to pursue a Ph.D. back in my home country Switzerland.

Since September 2010, I have been at the Institute of Biomedical Ethics at the University of Zurich. I am interested in the interplay between anthropology and current issues of human enhancement. My current research aims to look at what role, if any, the notion of perfection should play in the debate about the ethics of human enhancement. My other research interests include bioethics, transhumanism, virtue ethics, the ethics of human cloning, human dignity, philosophical anthropology and robot ethics.

I am also part of the network: “human dignity in practical contexts” with the University Research Priority Program at the University of Zurich. A regular columnist in different newspapers (Le Temps, Le Nouvelliste, 24 Heures, La Presse, Huffington Post), I have also published in scientific journals (Bioethica Forum, Revue Médical Suisse, Schweizerische Ärztezeitung and Medicine, Health Care and Philosophy). Besides spending time working on my research, I enjoy building websites, painting, playing sports, watching “How I met your mother” and following the FC Sion and the Vancouver Canucks.
