About Me

I am a TEDster! But the lack of technical innovation and well structured personal messaging within TED.com and Conversations has become a problem for me. I therefore do my best to #SpreadTED and it's ideas to as many appropriate sources as possible, across as many platforms as I can. I will however join Conversations every now and then and I do still watch ALL the TED Talks! Please don't hesitate to contact me about anything, I'm always happy to help!

My TED Story

December 2010 I was sitting in front of Google wondering what to do since I didn't want to go to Facebook or Wikipedia... So i searched "what to do on the internet" and after some hours browsing through different websites I found TED. TED has deeply changed the way I perceive people and the opportunities I have to make a change in the world! *December 2011* TED has made me resolute in my objective to do as much good (and litte harm) as possible, i'm rigth now trying to figure out the best ways to impliment good ideas, I just got involved in politics and there may be some potential for change there ;)

  • A reply on Conversation: World Wide Internet, accessible for all!

    Feb 25 2012: Hi Adriaan,
I don't think that local internet providers will have to much too say about this... And I'm also wondering about governments possibility to restrict access and so on... but so far the information seems kind of thin on exactly how it's going to work...

Feb 21 2012: I actually haven't read the "End-user license agreement"... As far as I know/knew Google+ is one of the best places for privacy...
    What about it?
  • A reply on Conversation: Do individuals have a social media strategy

    Feb 21 2012: Hi Chris

I think that to have the maximum impact you should definitively go for the biggest, first! But reaching out, or at least having a somewhat good profile across many different platforms can certainly have it's upsides.

I think that It all depends on what you're aiming for...

  • A comment on Conversation: Do individuals have a social media strategy

Feb 20 2012: I use as many tools as I can for spreading "ideas worth spreading" among other things. These tools include Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Foursquare, Tumblr, Blogger and Flickr... Some of my accounts are available through my Klout http://klout.com/#/JimmyStrobl

  • A comment on Conversation: A geographic needs based "social development collaboration platform"

Feb 18 2012: The concept of the platform is really good, but how do we get them to actually use it?

Feb 18 2012: I'm sorry if I offended you Xavier.

Your conclusions of what I mean is not the way I meant for it to be interpreted, and is not what I'm saying.

    Let me try to rephrase.

As a not too long standing member of TED (1.5 years coming up soon) I also get somewhat irritated when great ideas don't lead to the things that they had the capabilities of doing.

Finding like minded people in my vicinity is hard as well, right now I'm doing the tiresome but needed work of "creating" them, Inspiring the people around me to action and ideas works really well actually. But that's not the problem, is it?

Hmm... a thought just came to me... Aren't you just looking for TED but with location and group feature?

Feb 18 2012: There are already good sites for this, if you're going to start a new one you'd be putting in A LOT of work, not only building it but also getting users there, without members it's useless.

The idea is good but don't reinvent the wheel, use existing tools.
