About Me

Koz Khosravani is an Internet expert, a Computer Information Systems consultant, an Information Technology and educational technology lecturer, and Teaching Fellow at various colleges and universities, including Harvard University, UC-Irvine, UC-San Diego, and UCLA Extension Schools. Koz is a national speaker who has shared the stage with The President of the United States, Donald Trump, Tony Robbins, George Foreman, Lisa Nichols, David Bach, Chris Howard and many other top speakers. Koz is the only Internet Expert who was invited to be on stage with Donald Trump, Tony Robbins, and others to speak at major wealth Expos in New York and Chicago Convention Centers.

He has been active in the field of Information Technology and education for approximately fifteen years as a software engineer, project manager, educator, trainer, and consultant. He has trained technical employees at various Fortune 500 companies, including Digital Equipment Corporation, Raytheon, Hughes, Edison International, and Boeing (M-Douglas).Koz designed boot-camp-type fast-track Web Mastering programs for both UCLA and UC-Irvine to benefit those who want to learn about all aspects of website design, construction, and implementation - all in one intense week. Koz taught a variety of Educational and Instructional Technology courses, including the Internet for Educators, Online Research for Educators, and Advanced Microcomputers in the Classroom (Clear Credential). He designed and deployed a variety of short business workshops and consulting sessions in the areas of negotiations, communications, business management, MIS, and investments. In addition, he has served on the UCI and UCLA Extension School's advisory committees to develop certificate programs in E-Business and Educational Technology.

Koz created a new program at UCI Extension (2000-2001) entitled "E-Commerce for Entrepreneurs & Small Business Owners". He also taught E-Business Technology overview, E-Business Back-end Integration, and E-Business Security for UCI's Business division. On a lower "system" level, Koz taught VAX-Macro systems programming and Macro-11 at Harvard University.He has served on the UCLA Alumni Association Board of Directors, UCLA Wooden Athletic Center Board of Governors, UCLA's Executive Vice Chancellor's Academic Planning & Budget Advisory Committee (APBAC), UCLA Academic Senate's Professional School's Restructuring Committees, and UCSA Board of Governors, as well as other educational and social organization's governing boards.

Creating business opportunities for dis-advantaged people in developing countries. My new venture is about creating micro-business opportunities for all those who own cellphones in developing regions.

An idea worth spreading

Having our cities (e.g. my city of Santa Monica) adopt certain developing regions of the world and then through TEDx or TEDx-type events fidn volunteers and raise money for that region of the world based on serious cultivation of the local government and private sector of our city.

Read about TED at fast Company magazine. Looked at few videos on TED.com and got hooked. Was totally inspired to move from my current business focus into something far bigger than myself.

A comment on Talk: Tony Robbins: Why we do what we do

Aug 21 2010: Tony is master of what he does. His reference to 6 human needs have truly helped me and my own clients. The human need for contribution is one thing that allowed me to change the direction of my business (still evolving). It is amazing - everytime I listen to him, something within me awakens and I just want to dream even bigger and think of who I am as a person. Too bad his new TV show was canceled. They were inspiring as well... Someone asked if it was possible to get a little of Tony's time: He might not be available but I know his capable son, Jairek, is a coach at Tony Robbins companies and you can access his wisdom. At minimum, just buy his very old book - awaken the giant within - the principles in there still applies to today's challenges and economy. Wish you all the best.

A comment on Talk: Clay Shirky: How social media can make history

Aug 19 2010: Social media is great... But one must be aware of our participation in social media landscape since it can simply magnify our own limited beliefs, prejudice and expectations -- through joining online tribes whose thinking pattern is simply, an extension of our own? A minor issue compare to the availability of such a powerful and positive tool, and yet something to think about. Social media gives us the power of quantity (and global reach) and in the process, we might ignore the equally important issue of "quality”. Too many people brag about having 20,000 friends on Facebook but can 200 true friends give us more fulfillment, business, satisfaction, clarity, etc.? Just wondering :-)

A comment on Talk: Seth Godin: The tribes we lead

Aug 19 2010: Starting a tribe? Great idea. But sometimes, we do not need to start a new tribe. At times, our passion and skills would be well served joining other worthy tribes. I wanted to start yet another movement. And yet something told me that I should look for an existing tribe that would just "move me" and at the same time, can take advantage of my skills and resources. So I learned about a great lady (Zebiba Shekhia) who lived herself in the refugee camp in Eritrea. As a result of that tragic, yet heroic experience, when she made it to America, she decided to build and open the first-ever high school for girls in an existing refugee camp (Sudan). After years of hard work and dealing with red tapes (even from the United Nation, let alone Sudanese govt), she successfully accomplished her goal (HealingBridges.org). So, now I am organizing few events to raise the fund for this great school. I did not start a tribe but I am now a proud member of a tribe that is much bigger than I can ever be!
A comment on Talk: Lewis Pugh's mind-shifting Everest swim

Aug 15 2010: Good point. A good example of something inspiring (e.g. swimming Everest Lake) motivating some to do something essential (saving Mother Earth). As far as swimming slowly, I tried that in Santa Monica beach and nearly drowned!
