International dj Chang Bang began his career in the USA over two decades ago. He held the longest residency of any dj at the famous Gainesville nightclub, Simons! Chang Bang played there with guests like Laurent Garnier, Felix Da Housecat, Deep Dish, Green Velvet, Richie Hawtin, John Aquaviva, Mark Farina, John Digweed, and Danny Tenaglia. However, let’s not focus too far in the past.
Chang Bang has never constituted to one sound. He encompasses a plethora of house music with elements of disco, soul, electro, techno, and rock. Born in Manhattan, NY. Raised in NY and Miami, FL. He has sought out such diverse obscure sounds that he excites and entices his fans with the unknown & unexpected on the dancefloor.
His ventures have surpassed the borders of the USA. Chang Bang’s talents brought him to Bahrain, Austria, Lebanon, Poland, Jamaica, Slovakia, to the legendary Cocoon Club in Frankfurt, Germany.
Chang Bang’s free spirit has not only led him to travel playing throughout the world. His free spirit has enabled him to go beyond music adventuring to collaborate music with video. That is how he became a pioneer vj also in his dj sets! San Francisco is where he had his first public access tv show, House Nation. It was based on interviews with local house/dance music artists, djs, nights, and music videos.
Chang Bang was also present at many Sundance Film Festivals in the past. He was the DJ for New Line Cinema, and Miramax’s Sundance Film Festival events. He spun at the official parties for Hedwig & The Angry Inch & Human Traffic where guests Angelina Jolie, Vincent Gallo, and Samuel L Jackson to name a few were in attendance.
Chang Bang has played at events such as Disturbing the Peace where he was interviewed by HBO. Plus he produced a soundtrack for one of The Connext Project ads on Bright House Networks sponsored by MTV. You can listen to him weekly online on Changbang Radio 3000, and at Digital Vinyl TV hosted in Athens, Greece weekly. Plus he is also involved in Project Ahmisa charity events, spreading musical art to today’s underprivileged youth.
Currently Chang Bang is the resident at Cheap (Tampa, Fl.), a metro hot spot in Tampa for music, dining, and networking. Chang Bang is also a volunteer at The Moses House Non-Profit for his Street Music & Turntables Workshop. There he teaches djing, and produces hip hop for at risk youth in Sulphur Springs, Fl. Not too mention Chang Bang is also a dj for Shunda K’s (Yo Majesty) live shows.
