  • A comment on Talk: Ken Robinson says schools kill creativity

Mar 11 2010: All the educational institutions measure their success with success in outplacement - that is how many of their graduates found jobs even before they graduated as well as the quantum of offers they got. We constantly read about the graduates of some IIM or Harvard getting six figure offers etc. Now who are these employers? Most of these employers are Multi-National Corporations with a lot of money in their kitty. If you have ever worked in one of these organizations or interacted with an employee of these organizations - you will realize that job preservation is the foremost objective of almost everyone who works in these organizations and avoidance of failure or mistakes is their goal. I do believe this is the main force that prevents educational institutions in nurturing creativity - their desire to please corporations so they will hire more of their graduates.. The truly creative person simply cannot work in these organizations and hope to be creative.
