Dec 22 2010: Taking a look at the top rating of 'Obnoxious' makes me think she may have a point... plus, Most men do have a problem with confronting emotional experiences. Women handle intense emotional responses with a much greater feeling of societal acceptance. Its a whole lot to think about! phew!
Dec 22 2010: This is brilliant. I love that she recognizes the many subconscious actions of both men and women which prevent the successful blending of these two entities in both the work place and at home. It's going to take time, but we can do it!
Dec 21 2010: I love TED. How do I get a job with this new system of thinking?! I'm ready!
Evolution from ape to man did not occur over night. It took millions of years to produce the transformations which occurred in our bodies and created the humans we are today. Speciation events as well as mass extinction events brought us where we are today. The ability for cognitive thought created a huge movement to become human, as well as the ability to overcome the natural fear of fire, first controlling it, and then creating it at will. Another very important factor was learning how to use and make tools. I think the main defining factor which set us ahead of the rest of the species here on earth, was once we became self aware. I don't remember how long ago it happened, but their are ancient pictographs that display drawings of people and faces suggesting this may be the first self recognition event. It's still fragmented.
I'll do anything to find a job that could be as rewarding as TED talks! : )
Dec 20 2010: "I'm so fed up with The System. I went to school get my degree in bio with and the intention to complete my credentials directly after. By the time I achieved my Bachelors of Biology I was over it. I've wanted to teach all my life but now I can't bring myself to become part of this education system. I think if we can achieve an education system that is founded on the idea of thinking Outside the Box. But a change like that takes time. Probably a few generations at least.
