A comment on Talk: Deb Roy: The birth of a word

May 7 2011: The birth of surveillance society 2.0: this is Big Brother's wet dream!

Corporations and secret services are no doubt creaming themselves over this one.

I notice also that Roy's name appears on a paper entitled "An Immersive System for Browsing and Visualizing Surveillance Video."
  • A reply on Talk: Devdutt Pattanaik: East vs. West -- the myths that mystify

Nov 23 2009: Are you trying to justify the caste system here? this world view perpetuates poverty, it does not solve it, it also keeps oppressive power structures in place. India purchases Russian nuclear subs while rural communities starve, would you also call that part of natures game? It's perverse, the behaviour of a psychologically aberrant elite. There is no spirituality in this, only ignorance.
The talk here is interesting but essentially what we are getting is an insight into how Indians might be successfully manipulated; to do the bidding of Western corporations. If you want to enslave a population, you need to know what makes them tick. This man Devdutt Pattanaik appears to be using his insights to help business interests exploit the Indian proletariat; that's not a very admirable act.
