A comment on Conversation: If you could teach the world 1 valuable thing you learned, what would it be and why?

Aug 4 2011: I believe that, there is no such thing called failure, we simply procrastinate the success.

A comment on Talk: Thandie Newton: Embracing otherness, embracing myself

Jul 20 2011: Thandie Newton spoke to our heart. Each of the sentence in this talk make us to see the world and ourself in a way that meant to be.

She makes a heartfelt case for the importance of having a sense of self and how that relates to the world around us. Also, she points out that the sense of self does not mean conceit but awareness.

And I love this sentence in this talk, "embracing otherness is embracing myself. It gives me a whole new notion of myself." Loved it and one of my favourite talks in TED Global 2011. Inspirational and amazing talk.
  • A reply on Conversation: Create a three minutes version for each TED talk

Feb 17 2011: I see this idea as in different angle as not all the TED talks can be trimmed to fit into 3 minutes time. Sometimes, talks need time to make the argument clearly in the way to convince the idea that worth spreading.

I believe by adding some interactive elements to the video will do the trick. As the RSA doing RSA Animate as they trim the hour long speech into 10 minutes time-lapse video with lovely graphical explanation. Some videos were featured in TED in the Best of the Web segment too. (e.g: http://www.ted.com/talks/ken_robinson_changing_education_paradigms.html)

And I can remember sometime ago, BBC asked their viewers to come up with mashup using their Digital Revolution series' footages. People came up with cool yet incredible mashups. My favourite this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfOzs7IRbeo

This is good idea to have short footage of TED talks with interactive and graphical elements. Crowd-source works just like a magic. And translations of TED talks are always gone through moderation process so as that practice can be adopted to this very idea. Creativity of crowd is another source of wonderful ideas.
  • A reply on Conversation: In your experience, what did you find to work best for promoting TED to people who were unlikely to be TED fans?

Feb 17 2011: I agree with you Magda. But there is a nice work around for this, as there are lots of wonderful and inspiring yet less than 6 minutes talks available. For instance, I used to share my personal favourite Jay Walker's English Mania talk (www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/jay_walker_on_the_world_s_english_mania.html) with my colleagues. And they always ask me to send more links on talks like this.

The best part about this, my colleagues now have started share their favourite talks using social media and sometimes via email with me. So, like I said, it is contagious. :)

Feb 16 2011: In my personal experience, I believe by sharing the link of interesting TED talk with them, works better. Almost, everyone I personally recommended to watch a particular talk, replied me, saying thanks and they loved it. It is really a contagious. And they glad that they have something amazing to share with their friend.

And I repeat it. It contagious.

A comment on Talk: William Kamkwamba: How I harnessed the wind

May 26 2010: "I tried. And made it" may sounds simple but the words have the passion that William has put on his actions and thoughts. Real people have the real passion to come up with things that really matter. And he has the ability to captivate the audience with himself by saying something everyone can feel. I love it. When I started to review the Tamil translation of this talk, I felt more proud that I am just contribute something to my community to spread the real thoughts of young man, who made his own world without anything but hope, passion and determination. I wish him luck! Zikomo - Thank you!
