Sep 13 2012: Well I'm from Argentina, and our president is a woman. I can say because of what i see that it makes no difference if the president is female or male.
Our president and a media group (clarin) have opposite interests, and they have divided people into followers of the president's party and followers of the media group. Any site or place with politics-related content, is flooded with insults and that kind of things.
May 26 2012: When it comes to aesthetical aspects, like eyecolor, that might be true. But resistance to diseases, better muscle development, higher intelligence... I don't think those couldn't be defined as 'improvements'.
May 8 2012: I live in Argentina. Here its rare to buy things on the internet, or pay for digital content. Even for online games, like World of Warcraft... people here would rather play on ad-based (non official) free servers.
Paid social networking would be a complete failure here.
Apr 21 2012: A lot of revision would be necesary, many tedx talks lack the 'wow' factor that makes all of us love ted. Remember that there are many ted talks that are never uploaded to the site because of that... but I really like the idea.
Mar 18 2012: I think the content of the site is what makes the site less superficial. I can't imagine any dumb 12 year old reading all the topics here, or at least interested in any video, and making senseless comments.
I think copyright is obsolete... in the future free sharing wont be illegal, but a way to promote the products. See Hernan Casciari's talk at TEDxRiodelaplata,
Mar 17 2012: Gerarld is not speaking seriusly... He's trying to show how senseless your question sounds to an atheist. From an atheist's viewpoint, fairies and god are both the same - products of our imagination.
Your question, though, is based on a fallacy: more people don't make an argument more true. If something is true, it doesn't matter how much people believe in it, it just stays true - the same for false statements. The amount of people that believes in god/fairies do not make them more real.
Best regards, Marco.

A comment on Conversation: The lack of a chatroom style interface is, what I think, makes TED less of a superficial network.
