Jan 18 2012: Let's also not forget the attack on consumers with algorithms designed for profit only that sometimes are marketed artificially and numbers spun by corporate USA, why profit at all time levels. Sure I do understand technology replacing some jobs and that's a given, but the information and unintended circumstances that result are staggering, plus the fact that the average worker does not know how and has not been adequately trained to deal with "flawed data".
Richard Cordray, our new US financial protection chief should certainly know and understand algorithms with teeth and math, otherwise we are sunk as middle class. I call it the Attack of the Killer Algorithms on consumers. As NYU professor Siefe wrote in his book, The Dark Side of Mathematical Deception" a source with more knowledge than me.
