A reply on Talk: Ken Robinson says schools kill creativity

Jul 4 2009: You have completely missed his point. The whole point is that Dance and Music IS just as important as Maths and Language for society. As you have said yourself 'Mozart was an incredibly creative composer, yet he never neglected the study of the rules of composition.' I think you put it very well, but it contradicts what you are saying. What that shows is there is a balance that has to be met to make his music.

You say that maths and language is much more important than music or dance? I believe they are just as important as each other, however idealistic that may seem. You cannot put one over the other, they are just as important as each other. There are natural mathematicians/bankers/artists/dancers in this world, and to benefit the world and get the most out of everything, we have to guide this generation through their own dreams and aims rather than suppress it . It's hard to explain my thoughts with just 1000 letters, but i hope you get the general point.

Jul 4 2009: Those last few sentences had quite a big affect on me. Imagine breathing in carbon from the dinosaurs!
  • A comment on Talk: Kevin Kelly on the next 5,000 days of the web

Jan 25 2009: What Kevin talks about really scares me, and i am sure i am not the only one who feels the same way too. Of course there are parts of what he says that interests me and that i think are good, however what concerns me is the invasion of privacy that we will experience if this change comes about.

If the web explodes into what Kevin expects it will, then he is basically saying that that it will know everything. He is saying that the web will know everything about you, everything about what you have done, everything that you are doing. There are things in life that we prefer to be private that you don't want other people to know. That is part of us as humans, we are the only ones who will not betray ourselves and we prefer to keep our thoughts to ourselves.

I am scared that one day governments around the world will be able to see everything we have done, every letter we have sent, every word we have written, and there will be no safe online privacy, and what i think will happen is that the internet will out-do itself. People will start resorting to physical things such as real letters. I may just be babbling, after all it has only been a minute or two since the video ended and my thoughts are fresh and wild and s i may just be exaggerating, however i do not think the net should do this. It is bad enough as it is already, emails are not completely private and we don't even know how much power secret agencies and the government already have over us and how much knowledge they know. I could bet that somewhere every search i have ever done on this computer is listed, and we have to be careful about what we search or too much information about ourselves could be let out. Privacy is going to become a luxury if this prediction of the future comes to past, and that is why i do not want it to come, and that is why i am scared of this.
