What's even more insightful is that some of the deepest meditations and experiences of practicing yogi's living a Sikh-based Dharmic lifestyle (non-religious) reflect very closely what Jill Taylor describes as a pure right-brain experience. In yoga, we use breath to control the brain, reduce the chatter and experience the energy everywhere in the moment.
Then we share the experience with all, because the other person is you... We are all the vibrating life force of the infinite universe.
"I Am, I Am", as Jill exclaims in ecstasy, is her personal discovery. But it is also is the same mantra for the new Aquarian Age, as repeated and used in Kundalini Yoga meditations as taught by Yogi Bhajan.
It's a fascinating correlation between her truths and the truths of Dharma - hers is a modern day discovery for the scientific world, but it is also the same science that has been practiced by yogis for hundreds of years.
Oct 28 2008: I am still stuck on his very first point #10 (mental health) pointing out that 1:5 humans in the world are "clinically depressed", stressed, and sick. The must stunning - and careless - part of his suggested solution, is the call for drug companies to develop better psychoactive drugs. The LAST thing we need is more drugs affecting our brains with more and more side effects.
What we need is a holistic approach to mental health, and a method in which to control our dualistic brains. One in five people are depressed because this new world culture has taught us to look outside of ourselves for happiness (i.e. movies, entertainment, TV's, new electronics, fashion, beauty, drugs, money and power).
We are missing the experience of working on our own character and dignity as a road to a permanent, lasting happiness. This can be attained by following a specific system designed to elevate our consciousness, a system of compassion and helping others, and a system of nervous-system and glandular health exercises, And we need to develop royal courage, dignity, and majestic fearlessness to tackle all of these Ten Issues!
Luckily, we have this very system right in front of us, and the people of this world need it more now than ever before! It's an ancient, evolved and perfected system of developing mental and physical union within ourselves, called Kundalini Yoga (Kundalini meaning "awareness" and yoga coming from the word "yoke" - as in to yoke your brain to universal consciousness and reality).
So, say NO to more psychoactive drugs... It is within our capabilities as humans to be happy and healthy naturally, as was taught to the West by Yogi Bhajan, Master of Kundalini Yoga (yoga for the nervous system). This is the way can we all find prosperity, ecstasy and infinity... a true lasting, and meaningful happiness... And a system of social responsibility to help us lead the way out of the troubles we've caused for ourselves.
Oct 22 2008: Two Words: Infinitely fascinating. Two more words: Dharmic lifestyle.
Some of the deepest meditations and experiences of yogi's practicing a Sikh-based Dharmic lifestyle (non-religious) mirror very closely what Jill Taylor describes as a pure right-brain experience. Control the mind, reduce the chatter, and experience the boundless energy everywhere in the moment. Share the experience with all, because the other person is you.
"I Am, I Am" is the mantra for the new Aquarian Age - as repeated exactly in Kundalini Yoga, meditations, and in multiple lectures, as taught by Yogi Bhajan.
Oct 21 2008: Great lecture. One thing he didn't mention was the science of applying specially developed exercises together with meditation. One can gain a deep sense of self-awareness very rapidly with targeted exercises that prepare and control the mind before you even meditate. Called "Pranayam" or breath energy control (from Kundalini), if applied correctly can rapidly raise one's awareness in a matter of 90 minutes as opposed to 9,000 hours.
Since the breath controls the mind, by applying specific exercises to control the breath, the mind follows in specific ways. Kundalini Yoga accomplishes this scientifically, spiritually, and quickly by culturing a deep connection with this infinite, universal compassion he discusses. Kundalini, which literally means the Yoga of Awareness, coupled with a Dharmic Lifestyle, is the perfect tool for this coming Aquarian age of compassion -- and best of all encourages being involved with life, rather than retreating from it.
Practice for just 30-40 days, you will definitely get a special personal reward! : )
Oct 21 2008: What is interesting to me, is how this E8 Shape corresponds very closely to the shape of the Sri Chakra - an ancient Hindu (Tantric) circular shape of triangles. interlaced in such a way as to form a web of smaller triangles "symbolic of the entire cosmos or a womb symbolic of creation." (-Wikipedia).
Tantra is, according to Tibetan Buddhist Tantric practitioner Lama Thubten Yeshe: "...a union of all universal energy. Everything that we need in order to be complete is within us right at this very moment. It is simply a matter of being able to recognize it. This is the tantric approach."
Tantra also: "seeks to ritually appropriate and channel that energy, within the human microcosm, in creative and emancipatory ways."
Is it not conceivable that the beauty of this Tantric structure can now be explained as the expression of a creative force tapping into the divine universal & infinite consciousness? And if so... in a state of self-awareness, how different are we really from a hyper-intelligent coral polyp?
