I've used your cookbook & a home-made meal tastes better to me - plus I know exactly what went in it. My 13 year old son helped put our vegetable garden in this year & gets huge satisfaction from eating what he's helped grow.
For me, the message is about taking responsibility for all parts of our lives, including what we eat & what we feed our kids...
Dec 11 2009: By looking back, we are able to move forward. The answers for a sustainable future exist if we are able to be open to old ideas, principles and philosophies.
Many great civilisations have achieved magnificent feats that can assist us prepare for an incredible future.
Thanks again, TED for opening our minds and connecting us!
Dec 10 2009: Excellent, mind stretching talk that makes me think the whole world is a puzzle - Maybe we should get Kim to solve the problem of global warming ?
Nov 27 2009: For me, this talk is a great reminder of how art and story-telling can be used effectively to communicate ideas and connect people. It's an idea that has been around for thousands of years and is as relevant today as it ever was.
Oct 26 2009: I recently came across this post on Kevin Roberts' blog from the World Business Forum that seemed relevant to this talk:
Bill Clinton%u2019s star power was evident, as thinker, performer, storyteller and man of action. His framework for seeing the world is interdependence, not globalization. The three persistent challenges he framed were inequality, instability, and sustainability. The President closed it out this way: %u201CWe have to find a world where we can all win, otherwise, none of us will.

Oct 24 2009: This talk grabbed my interest at the 5:35 mark, where it became more relevant to me as part of the global audience. Although it was obviously aimed at Americans, there are global trends that are interesting to other parts of the world.
I love the thought that the people (rather than corporates) are taking control of our world and I believe the corporates that embrace and work with its community of stakeholders will create symbiotic relationships that benefit everyone!
Oct 22 2009: Thank you for sharing your story. I enjoyed the carefully crafted words. I believe that as we understand and learn, explore and question our stories become richer and more meaningful.
Oct 15 2009: Thanks for the link to the audiobook, I look forward to finding out more about your perspective which resonates strongly with me. I like the idea of feeling 'connected', but it could also be described as being part of a tribe...
Oct 15 2009: An interesting and thought-provoking talk. It leaves me wondering whether this could be an alternative to Maslow's hierarchy of needs - focussing on 'tribal' stages instead?
Oct 9 2009: I really enjoyed this talk, particularly the thought you can translate light to sound and allow the blind to 'see' in a new way.
My dad (due to a tragic accident many years ago) is blind in 1 eye, deaf in 1 ear, has no sense of smell and next to no taste, but by using his other senses, could 'taste' or 'smell' through listening to a symphony!
Oct 6 2009: What a gutsy, but obviously beneficial idea. I would love to know how we can harness this create spark & turn it into a reality for more of the workforce - or is it having the courage and conviction to follow a dream?
Sep 30 2009: Thank you for sharing this revealing research that connected with me in our connected world. I believe that the world is changing and your talk gives me hope & courage - thank you!
Sep 26 2009: What a memorable talk & incredible example of the human spirit & body achieving what I would've thought was impossible. Loved the frankness with the only word that explained how cold it was!
Sep 25 2009: A good friend of mine has been diagnosed with Asperges Syndrome (as has his son) & they find it difficult to 'read' other people. This talk interested me and I wondered if any link had been investigated...
Sep 6 2009: Imagine if you could tap into the earth's magnetic field for energy, that would be ingenious! Our current electricity grid is probably quite primitive compared to what could be possible! I like your thinking.
Sep 5 2009: Thanks for sharing an amazing connection between technology & people, using technology to extract what is in another person's head. I love your work!
Sep 2 2009: What a wonderfully simple solution - reminds me of the quote attributed to Robert F Kennedy - "There are those who look at things the way they are, and ask why... I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?%u201D
Jul 17 2009: In a world where I seem to be hearing about death & destruction, it's great to hear about the positive, exciting work to make our lives better. I was touched that he was motivated by the death of a close friend to develop this treatment.
Jul 4 2009: Even if only one girl in the audience went away from this speech, inspired or motivated to try a little bit harder or dream a little bit bigger it would be a successful speech.
That change won't be because of what anyone said - it will be because of what that girl heard...
Jul 4 2009: I like your thinking & from practical experience, I know it works. The breakthroughs & learning from trial & error are much more powerful than being told what to do.
Sometimes the saying "don't reinvent the wheel" becomes limiting. Imagine if someone did reinvent the wheel!
Jul 1 2009: In New Zealand, kids from age 3 use hammer & nails at pre-school. My son taught me how to use a wood lathe & how to weld when he was 13. I really hope we never lose this creative & learning culture.
May 30 2009: Thank you for a most interesting (& entertaining) talk. I saw similarities with the ideas Dan Gilbert presented in his talk about our ability to make 'good' decisions. I like the way you presented your findings with reference to future success (however that gets defined).
As a parent I have tended to provide immediate gratification & your talk has helped me see the advantage of not saying yes all the time. Thanks
Feb 28 2008: Thank you for connecting me with the amazing ideas from TED. I think the tag line should be ideas worth connecting because this is more than spreading. I love the passion!
