  • A comment on Talk: Ian Goldin: Navigating our global future

Oct 26 2009: I recently came across this post on Kevin Roberts' blog from the World Business Forum that seemed relevant to this talk:

Bill Clinton%u2019s star power was evident, as thinker, performer, storyteller and man of action. His framework for seeing the world is interdependence, not globalization. The three persistent challenges he framed were inequality, instability, and sustainability. The President closed it out this way: %u201CWe have to find a world where we can all win, otherwise, none of us will.

A comment on Talk: John Gerzema: The post-crisis consumer

Oct 24 2009: This talk grabbed my interest at the 5:35 mark, where it became more relevant to me as part of the global audience. Although it was obviously aimed at Americans, there are global trends that are interesting to other parts of the world.

I love the thought that the people (rather than corporates) are taking control of our world and I believe the corporates that embrace and work with its community of stakeholders will create symbiotic relationships that benefit everyone!
  • A comment on Talk: Chimamanda Adichie: The danger of a single story

Oct 22 2009: Thank you for sharing your story. I enjoyed the carefully crafted words. I believe that as we understand and learn, explore and question our stories become richer and more meaningful.

A comment on Talk: Rory Sutherland: Life lessons from an ad man

Oct 17 2009: Humour is a great way to convey messages & Rory used the best of British humour that made the message even more effective.

The new economy belongs to the new thinkers - but I guess it always has!

A comment on Talk: Julian Treasure: The 4 ways sound affects us

Oct 16 2009: Loved the talk & the roller coaster of feelings it generated inside me. The stats were persuasive.

Maybe that's why I love my Ipod so much... it connects me with the music I love!

A reply on Talk: Julian Treasure: The 4 ways sound affects us

Oct 16 2009: I love the TED intro so much, it's my ring tone. I look forward to every time it rings! It creates a sense of anticipation & greatness.
  • A reply on Talk: David Logan on tribal leadership

Oct 15 2009: Thanks for the link to the audiobook, I look forward to finding out more about your perspective which resonates strongly with me. I like the idea of feeling 'connected', but it could also be described as being part of a tribe...
  • A comment on Talk: David Logan on tribal leadership

Oct 15 2009: An interesting and thought-provoking talk. It leaves me wondering whether this could be an alternative to Maslow's hierarchy of needs - focussing on 'tribal' stages instead?

A reply on Talk: Beau Lotto: Optical illusions show how we see

    Oct 11 2009: Very perceptive...
  • A comment on Talk: Beau Lotto: Optical illusions show how we see

Oct 9 2009: I really enjoyed this talk, particularly the thought you can translate light to sound and allow the blind to 'see' in a new way.

My dad (due to a tragic accident many years ago) is blind in 1 eye, deaf in 1 ear, has no sense of smell and next to no taste, but by using his other senses, could 'taste' or 'smell' through listening to a symphony!
  • A comment on Talk: Stefan Sagmeister: The power of time off

Oct 6 2009: What a gutsy, but obviously beneficial idea. I would love to know how we can harness this create spark & turn it into a reality for more of the workforce - or is it having the courage and conviction to follow a dream?
  • A comment on Talk: Dan Pink on the surprising science of motivation

Sep 30 2009: Thank you for sharing this revealing research that connected with me in our connected world. I believe that the world is changing and your talk gives me hope & courage - thank you!
  • A comment on Talk: Lewis Pugh swims the North Pole

Sep 26 2009: What a memorable talk & incredible example of the human spirit & body achieving what I would've thought was impossible. Loved the frankness with the only word that explained how cold it was!
  • A comment on Talk: Rebecca Saxe: How we read each other's minds

Sep 25 2009: A good friend of mine has been diagnosed with Asperges Syndrome (as has his son) & they find it difficult to 'read' other people. This talk interested me and I wondered if any link had been investigated...
  • A reply on Talk: Eric Giler demos wireless electricity

Sep 6 2009: Imagine if you could tap into the earth's magnetic field for energy, that would be ingenious! Our current electricity grid is probably quite primitive compared to what could be possible! I like your thinking.

Sep 5 2009: Thanks for sharing an amazing connection between technology & people, using technology to extract what is in another person's head. I love your work!

A comment on Talk: Josh Silver demos adjustable liquid-filled eyeglasses

Sep 2 2009: What a wonderfully simple solution - reminds me of the quote attributed to Robert F Kennedy - "There are those who look at things the way they are, and ask why... I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?%u201D

A comment on Talk: Emmanuel Jal: The music of a war child

Aug 31 2009: What a riveting but also sad talk that was filled with hope and a pathway to a better future.
  • A comment on Talk: Janine Benyus: Biomimicry in action

Aug 14 2009: We live in a truly beautiful world - and we have so much to learn! The more I learn, the more I realise how little I know...

A comment on Talk: Bonnie Bassler on how bacteria "talk"

Jul 17 2009: I found this talk incredible & although I knew we relied on good bacteria, I never thought of myself only being 1% human before.

Thanks Bonnie & the team for some great work, helping not only better understand our relationship with bacteria, but also to make our lives better.
  • A reply on Talk: Bonnie Bassler on how bacteria "talk"

Jul 17 2009: Great spotting! I hadn't thought of that, but now you mention it, it's very much like the tipping point.

A comment on Talk: Kary Mullis' next-gen cure for killer infections

Jul 17 2009: In a world where I seem to be hearing about death & destruction, it's great to hear about the positive, exciting work to make our lives better. I was touched that he was motivated by the death of a close friend to develop this treatment.

A comment on Talk: Michelle Obama's plea for education

Jul 4 2009: Even if only one girl in the audience went away from this speech, inspired or motivated to try a little bit harder or dream a little bit bigger it would be a successful speech.

That change won't be because of what anyone said - it will be because of what that girl heard...
  • A reply on Talk: Gever Tulley teaches life lessons through tinkering

Jul 4 2009: I like your thinking & from practical experience, I know it works. The breakthroughs & learning from trial & error are much more powerful than being told what to do.

Sometimes the saying "don't reinvent the wheel" becomes limiting. Imagine if someone did reinvent the wheel!
  • A comment on Talk: Gever Tulley teaches life lessons through tinkering

Jul 1 2009: In New Zealand, kids from age 3 use hammer & nails at pre-school. My son taught me how to use a wood lathe & how to weld when he was 13. I really hope we never lose this creative & learning culture.

A comment on Talk: Joachim de Posada says, Don't eat the marshmallow yet

May 30 2009: Thank you for a most interesting (& entertaining) talk. I saw similarities with the ideas Dan Gilbert presented in his talk about our ability to make 'good' decisions. I like the way you presented your findings with reference to future success (however that gets defined).

As a parent I have tended to provide immediate gratification & your talk has helped me see the advantage of not saying yes all the time. Thanks
  • A comment on Blog: WorldWide Telescope TEDTalk -- now on TED.com!

Feb 28 2008: Thank you for connecting me with the amazing ideas from TED. I think the tag line should be ideas worth connecting because this is more than spreading. I love the passion!
