During my studies - Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology - I steadily developed an interest in international affairs, especially in developing countries. The Dutch United Nations Student Association organizes a variety of activities such as lectures, fora, study trips and excursions. Our focus is on International Relations. I wrote my BA-thesis on natural resources, state failure and conflict in Eastern Congo taking a HumanRightsWatch-report on the activities of AngloGold Ashanti as a starting point. During the writing of my thesis I found that I needed to know more about international (public and private) law so now I follow some courses at the Faculty of Law here in Leiden. Next year I would like to pursue a Masters degree in Conflict Studies.
