  A comment on Talk: Peter Donnelly: How stats fool juries

  Dec 22 2011: When we deal with things like numbers or statistics and probabilities we forget what it means to the humans involved. Sally Clark, the mother accused of murdering her two children, died from alcohol poisoning. She never recovered from the travesty of justice that was her trial. Se drank herself to death. In all the abstract conversation that fact should not be over looked.

  Nov 11 2011: Having pushed myself beyond normal limits in the past I suspect he was thinking about the pain he had to overcome to get to his goal. Look at his face when they are trying to push that tube into his body. That hurt plain and simple. But he relaxed and allowed it to happen. That was only one of the pains he had to over come.

  Nov 11 2011: You do. You just need to realize you do. You have way more then half. You are a human being just as David is. The sonny brent persona is the part of you that says you can't do something. That is the negative part of you. But if you focus on the positive part of you then you will find you can do much more then you thought you could. So focus on the positive. Don't let negative view points prevent you from realizing your potential. Don't let your self doubt prevent you from being all you can be!!

  A comment on Conversation: Should USA and the remaining 39 countries sign the Land Mine Ban Treaty and join with 157 states that already signed it? Why don't we sign?

  Nov 3 2011: No America should not. But America, and every other nation that uses land mines should have detailed maps of where the mines are. It is possible today, using GPS, to have a map and remove the mines after they are not needed. The places where the worse human suffering is occurring from land mines is also the places where those that use them have little regard for human suffering. It is unfortunate that the "good" must use the same tools as the "bad" in warfare. But that is the case. To ignore that basic truth is foolhardy.

  Nov 3 2011: "The only way to win the game is to not play" Is a totally wrong statement. If you don't play you automatically lose. Evil exists. Tyrants exist. The only way to "win" when evil and tyrants threaten you is to fight back. If nobody fought back against Hitler and the National Socialist's do you think there would be a Jew, or any of the 3 million people that weren't Jews that they murdered, left in the world? The answer is no. They would have killed them all.
  
  It's a sad but true fact if you don't fight back you lose. That means you die. Your parents die. Your children die. Your family dies. Your friends die. Everybody on your side dies.
  
  It would be wonderful to say " I am not going to fight and that will allow me to win" but that is a lie.
  
  For evil to win all it takes is for the good to do nothing!!

  Jul 27 2011: Stanford U. wrote a program called Mycin. A version of the program was tested on 5,000 patient at the Mayo Clinic. They compared the results with 5,000 randomly selected patients that were treated by a person. The doctors had an error ratio of 167 percent. The computer program had 3 percent error ratio. Sounds good right but wait. The AMA refused to allow it to be used. Why would that be. Well think about what happens when a doctor makes a mistake. He writes a prescription that doesn't work. Then he writes another one. Then another one until he gits it right or the patient dies. Look how much more money the drug companies make when a doctor makes a mistake. A consumer group did a study on death rates by doctor mistakes. They came up with mistakes by doctors is the number one cause of fatalities. The AMA was upset about this. They demanded their data. And the group gave it to them. They massaged it and massaged it and then said we are not number one we are number three. But if you look at the AMA list of the causes of death you will not see mistakes by doctors anywhere on that list. Some many doctors are killing their patients and lying about it on the death certificate that Sixty Minutes had an episode about it. There is now a new medical business. If you think that your loved one was killed by their doctor you can send the remains to this company and they will do an autopsy. The person on Sixty Minutes asked "So how many wrong death certificates do you find?" The reply was about fifty percent. I suspect the actual amount is much higher because these are people that are smart enough to suspect something and have the funds to pay for this service. Insurance does not cover it. Medicine is a business and you are a customer. The more they can get you sick the more money they make. Don't believe that they care about you. It's a lie!!

  Jul 24 2011: I have looked at all the comments and find it amazing that none are up to date. It is now believed that there was more then one nation involved. The US for it coding skills, Russia for it's control of bot nets and Germany for it's knowledge of Seimens systems. This was a operative attack on Iran by many nations. Something that disturbs me reading the comments is how many don't know history. Yes the US did develop and drop an Abomb on Japan. But nobody seems to know about the biological weapons that Japan had developed. Everybody should educate themselves about Harbin China and what Japan did there during the war. They developed biological weapons. One of them was a flea bomb that delivered plague. They found that using a steel case would kill the fleas. So the made the bombs out of pottery. And then tested it on cities in China that still have plague to this day. The internment of the Japanese people in the US during the war is a very hard thing to except. But it did do one thing. It destroyed the spy network Japan had in place. A Spy from Japan had to read the news papers in Mexico to get information about the US. So they needed a way to use the flea bomb on the US. They only option open for them was to use balloons. But they had no way to check they guidance systems on the balloons. So they first used incendiary bombs to start fires that would be reported in the news papers. And they sent incendiary bombs to attack the factory that was producing the B29 in Washington State. That made the papers when one blew up killing a child playing in the woods. They had overshot the target and landed in the forest. Before they could correct there guidance system to drop biological weapons on the US they were hit with the Abomb. And the war was over. There are no "good guys" in war. Only winners and losers. The dropping of the Abomb set the world for the US to develop and give to the world the internet and GPS. One should not forget that.
