Jul 22 2011: I think that @Bert Govig is 100% right in his comments and that this talk is a "somewhat whimsical and very Entertaining tour of Technology and Design". I really enjoyed watching it, and learned a lot.
I also think he used a lot of techniques to give the impression that there was substantially more profound insight in his talk than was actually present. It was a bit like watching a music video...
I also have some sympathy with @Dan O's position that there is some danger in putting together really compelling stories like this which are basically entertaining sophistry.

Jul 22 2011: Not sure if there's anyone here who lives in Singapore. Some friends who had lived there menioned that many websites containing pornography and overt violence are completely banned. What do you guys think about that?
