A reply on Conversation: Showing experiments on live animals to young kids, regardless of what kind of animal, can be considered part of an educational program?

Mar 24 2012: You make the mistake of thinking all life is equal.

He did enough to make sure he wasn't being cruel, plus he explained why he wasn't being cruel, so the kids got an idea that science doesn't just experiment without rules on the living.

A comment on Talk: Larry Smith: Why you will fail to have a great career

Mar 24 2012: The talk would have been much better if he did not inextricably link passion and career. Pursuing your passion doesn't mean making it your job.

Secondly, the fact that he says there are no good careers, only great ones and soul-destroying ones is meant to be self-evident, but I think the evidence points against this. Many people (myself included) love their jobs, but it isn't their passion..

I appreciate the sentiment he tries to convey, but he is very wrong about being passionate and how to pursue a passionate life.
