I have worked in IT for nearly 30 years. I have worked in large corporations and small companies. I have started three companies and currently co-own and run Glanton Solutions Ltd. We are a Corporate Web Solutions company and a DotNetnuke Gold partner,( http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Partners/Partner-Directory.aspx) . Our Clients include multi-nationals like BP and WeightWatchers. My company is a DotNetNuke Gold Partner Personally I am interested in personal development and assisting others in their own development path. I do voluntary work for the Prince's Trust (http://www.princes-trust.org.uk/). I recently wrote a "Business Guide to Twitter" which you can download for free at http://glanton.com.
I like to see design, communication and web technologies come together.
I believe that everyone is an expert in something. It could be a simple as how to make a banana cake or how to change the exhaust on a 1979 Ford Capri. But no matter how simple or grand, that individual had to learn how to do it and had to overcome obstacles along the way. Most people under estimate the value of their experience and I like to arouse a recognition in people that their experience is valid and interesting.
The web. Social networking. The Apollo space programme.
Listening! I am fairly opinionated and can do my fair share of talking. But I like to listen first. Most of my friends wouldn't recognise that but it's true!
I have taken a lot out of TED webcasts and podcasts. I have shared my favourites and tried to explain what it's all about but there's no substitute for seeing or hearing a great thought or observation that really makes you sit up and take notice. One of my favourites is Hans Rosling's talk with the great use of graphs. I won't forget that.
