An idea worth spreading

Idea 1. Social Engineering + City engineering + socialism for kids + capitalism for adults + Matriarch society = one interesting experiment that could change the world. Idea 2. The future of mankind beyond planet earth involves immortality through uploaded conscience thought. Idea 3. Stages of technological development go through phases; 1 kinetic tech 2 chemical tech 3 electrical tech 4 information tech 5 pushing the boundaries of physics tech 6 bending the laws of physics tech 7 breaking the laws of physics tech 8 creating the laws of physics tech.

  A comment on Conversation: Does humanity have a purpose?

  Oct 4 2011: That question has different answers depending on who you ask. According to the universe, human existence is as pointless as a grain of sand on a beach. According to religion, it is to do gods will and make the leaders of the religion more powerful. According to my cat, it is to make food magically happen. According to biology, it is to survive. According to humanities, it is to uplift the human state (whatever that may be). According to the spaghetti monster, it is to consume spaghetti and be satisfied.
  
  According to me, it is to strive.

• A comment on Conversation: Bases of a Social Technocracy (I haven't found anything similar so far).

  Sep 4 2011: I would love for such a thing to exist but there is one fatal flaw. Humans are not like that. Logic doesn't work with everyone and there will always be that nut who will not see reason. This method is only usable if there was a new world where highly educated unbiased people could start a fresh new life. Even one unthinking radical would spoil such a society. What would you do with people who clearly refuse to think in a logical manner?

• A reply on Conversation: Where applicable,substitute insect proteins for otherwise marketable fishery based proteins in modern aquaculture systems.

  Sep 1 2011: I think insects are a great choice for fish pellets. They are a good source of minerals and protein. You can always mix the insects with waste soy or whey or any other farm or food industry by product.

  Sep 1 2011: I don't think I have the talent to do that. It would take a long time and would require an editor to edit both the story line and the credibility factor. Plus i am no good at portraying peoples foibles and unique characters.

• A comment on Conversation: What if we could code a virus to tell our skin cells to collect/produce/store iron or another material, so that the skin would be stronger.

  Aug 31 2011: The human body is a fine tuned machine. Your idea would be impractical. Our skin was developed to be what it is because it is what we need. By changing skin dynamics you would cause more problems than you fix. So okay the skin is stronger, so how do you run faster when you need more energy to bend your knee. How do those particles interfere with healing and growing and wrinkles and skin thickness and sweating and blushing and swimming and hair growth. E.T.C There is no end to the problems that can develop by simply changing one variable.

• A comment on Conversation: Should/Could a maximum wage be introduced; A limit to how high the highest earners can make?

  Aug 31 2011: Yes, reducing wages with a wage cap would put a stop to CEO's insane strategies to temporarily raise profits so that they can get obscene bonuses by scuttling the company, something which should be a crime but isn't because their fellow CEO's cover their backs until the whole thing blows up like ENRON. The money would instead go to higher profits that would increase investor return. Of course this still does not make it a done deal. CEO's will find other ways to profit themselves. Perks and company expenses are not wages and will certainly be misused to fill in their wage gaps.
  
  CEO's are more concerned with their pockets than with company finances. This is because they actually don't do much. They decide on a strategy and then bet the whole company on it. If it works they get huge bonuses, if it fails they get huge bonuses. They don't actually have much control over company profits but they do have control over their own profits. If CEO's were doing their jobs right the world would be filled with Steve Jobses and Apple like companies. Yet most companies are doing business as usual. Do CEO's make that much of a difference?

  Aug 31 2011: The problem is raising a large amount of insects that fish would eat. I suggest termites. They only need wood to live. A source of waste wood in a large terrarium would produce tons of termites that can be easily farmed to feed the fish.

  Aug 31 2011: Without the pop culture the soda culture would have developed and we would have soda idols. The entertainment industry caters to the base emotions of people. They will always find a way to exploit it one way or another. In the end the world would not be a better or worse place. It would be the same.

  Aug 31 2011: There are two types of people in this world. Those who watch TED and those who don't. This is as good a division as any other.
