About Brenda

Bio

My name is Brenda Pannell. I was born September 11, 1955 in a small town in Virginia. I am the youngest of six children and quite different from most of them. My mother struggled to raise us, as my father was killed in a car accident when I was only six months old. This was an event that I think has truly made me who I am today. My mother remarried when I was thirty. We were raised to know how to survive and thrive. I am currently a Library Associate. I supervise Outreach Service, which includes homebound services to the elderly and disabled. We also have a Bookmobile and deliver materials to childcare centers. This position fits me well, as I love serving others. I still dream of doing more for others as this is who I am.

An idea worth spreading

That all of mankind would awaken from our sleep and become involved in the needs of all. Understanding that what hurt one hurt all. Knowing that we all are one big family and family takes care of family. If we act as though we are family, oh the things we could accomplish. The joy we would have! Yes I know there would be hardships, but as a family we would get though them. This is what I think should be the goal of all the people. We can be better.

I'm passionate about

Creativity requires the shutting down of inhibitions and working memory and yet when our kids do this we try to "cure" them.
My youngest child who is 13 is consider ADHD. She also has poor working memory. She is calling herself one of the IEP kids. I always remind her that that is not who she is. She love's music! She currently is learning to play the trumpet. She is wonderful at this, quite a natural at it. She also has a small set of drums, a keyboard and a guitar at home. She bounces from one to the other everyday. She is also quite good at figuring out the computer at home. I could go on and on, but sadly some people are only looking to see if she is on the A honor roll. I believe we are destoring our children based on a test.
