People are appalled when something or someone makes a racist gesture, however, when someone makes a sexist one it is seen as less of an importance. We need to change this. Both racism and sexism should not be tolerated... equally.

  May 12 2011: Well if you ever read about Condaleeza Rice when she was in the White House it is very interesting how sh was treated when compared to the others. Also, in most white collar jobs you barely ever see a woman at the top. Advertising also uses sex to sell and this is a form of sexism. I don't care if some women are okay with it, I just want to know why sexism is not seen as a big deal. Also in sociological studies it has been found that on the average for the US women are still payed less for the same job.

  May 12 2011: Well, what was created first? Life or art? I believe art imitates life because without life there would be no art. You could argue, though, that presently pop culture has shaped the present.

  May 12 2011: I want to add that this topic is also barely ever discussed. Are people afraid of it?

• A comment on Conversation: How might a person step into the shoes of an "anti-American terrorist" and NOT be labeled "anti-American"?

  May 12 2011: You could argue that John P. O'Neill of the FBI did just that and was seen as anything but anti-American.
