Maven, advisor, seeker of adventure.
I'm a kid at heart and love to figure out how things work. Over the years, I've expressed it in many ways, from creating web architectures, to building motorcycles.
Adventure - however you define it. Our culture is diverging toward a digital life in favor of a visceral reality. I believe that we need both and that they complement each other. In the same way that we need wholesome food for sustenance, we need real, "get-out-and-do-something" experiences to thrive.
Your passion! I have diverse interests and love to find new ones. Currently I spend most of my time on travel, adventure, motorcycles, gadgets and theatre.
Two surprisingly different topics - endurance-based events (like Tough Mudder) and tearing into linguistically rhythmic plays (Shakespeare, Mamet, Rabe).
I've been a long-time fan and spectator until 2011, when TED allowed open auditions. I had a message to share, so why not apply? In 2010, suffering from personal tragedies and professional burnout, I drove an ambulance 10,000 miles from the UK to Mongolia. Along the way, the trials and tribulations granted me much-needed perspective on life. Somehow my message struck a chord and I was 1 of 17 to make it to the final round. How did I do? Was I chosen to speak at TED 2012? We'll know sometime after May 24th. Wish me luck!
