  • A comment on Talk: Mustafa Akyol: Faith versus tradition in Islam

Jun 7 2011: I do agree that we need a kinda Renascence in Islam and agree that in many cases what Islam says is totally different from what Muslims do, but I think he needs to study a bit more for being more qualified to talk about Islam or Middle East as whole. In Middle East there are not just Arab countries and Islam can't be found simply in Arab worlds or Turkey. Just travel to some Arab countries and considering the way they are treating to Islam and then compare it with Turkey and generalize it to the whole countries in Middle East is not a good way to talk about opening up a new vantage point to Islam. Iran is also in Middle East and has a completely different story/history in the filed of Islam. For example,Iran doesn't get its history and culture from Islam.Iran never been colonized, We had democracy many years ago, even before Turkey but as Shirin Neshat mentioned in her recent talk, it was stolen from us by US. The first Islamic revolution happened in Iran and so on... The reason that why we couldn't manage to reach our goals is another story that needs to be taken in consider in more details.

May 25 2011: I really enjoyed watching this talk. For me that means more than a simple speech as I'm living in the situation that she is talking about.I do appreciate her works and thank her for her lively and nice speech, for doing her job in the best way and more for her efforts to show the real face of Iranians to the people around the world. Yes,we are Iranians, those who have never stopped struggling to achieve freedom and justice.
  • A comment on Talk: Charity Tillemann-Dick: Singing after a double lung transplant

May 20 2011: That's one the most amazing stories I ever heard . That's fantabulous, so inspiring, It shows how much our belief and endurance can save us even from so deadly events. Right now, there are so many people around the world who are suffering from the same problem .This story (of course reality) can be an inspiring message for them. Thanks Charity for sharing her great experience.
