  • A reply on Conversation: How do you overcome a language barrier(especially English)??

May 27 2011: Thanks you for your comment. Body language is essential part of communication. But, sometimes, you have to depend on just verbal words of language, such as job interview on the phone, essay for university admission. In this situation, how we deal with?
  • A comment on Conversation: What will you do when you feel confused about your future? Or at least do something to relieve your anxiety?

May 25 2011: Read some books related to your anxiety.

Here's my favorite saying that went something like that; Almost everything that you want to know today, which someone had considered before, and sometimes, they left the answer in book.
  • A comment on Conversation: Do you have a suggestion for TED? Something we could do better?

May 23 2011: 1. Let many people know what TED is!
    2. Open TED Conferences (not TEDx) in other countries such as Asia, India, Latin America.
    3. Invite non-English speakers who have brilliant ideas.
    4. Invite brilliant students as attendants for free!!

A comment on Conversation: What is your favourite single sentence from a TED Talk?

May 18 2011: " So, let's never forget, whether at TED, or anywhere else, that whatever brilliant ideas you have or hear, that the opposite may also be true."

It's not from TED 2011, but I want to share.

  • A comment on Conversation: Who inspires you? Who is your role model ?

May 17 2011: Yi Sun-sin, who was the Korean navy admiral in the Joseon Dynasty. Why does inspire me? He had never ever been defeated in the war. At the battle of Myeongryang, he had defeated more than 133 enemy ships with only 13 ships. Many people think this battle just a legend but this is a historical fact.

  • A comment on Conversation: Democracy vs. Dictatorship

May 11 2011: Though, I don't know much about Islamic World, I want to tell you my country's history. My home country, South Korea, has achieved democratization within just a generation. At that time, my state was a developing country under military dictatorship. And there were just few high educated people, the rest just graduated elementary school and were peasants or wageworkers. So many people said "It is hard that South Korea will achieve democratization in near future."
However we has achieved democratization and we're really proud of it. Now we can demand the government better health care, social security, and so on. We can vote our president and our congressmen by our hands. These things, now taken for granted, were impossible just few decades ago. It has past just 23 years after democratization and we've still been facing a lot of problems to solve. But we've achieved a lot of things such as 5 peaceful president elections with 2 peaceful changes of government, continuous economic growth, better health care, education system, and so on.

Though Islamic culture may be far different from what developed western counties say, it's could be wrong to say that it is impossible for Islamic world to achieve democratization.
  • A comment on Conversation: I challenge you to Define Education

May 5 2011: True Education is to make people truly FREE :)
  • A comment on Conversation: HOW IS TECHNOLOGY CHANGING THE WAY WE THINK?

Apr 22 2011: If you don't mind, please look at it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUCpuaqlISQ
Technology is good thing that could extend our understanding of nature and help our vision realize. But that's it.

It might bring us crisis of underestimating the value of human life and seem to solve every problem we are facing now. But technology alone is not enough. To deal with these problems, we really need something more like liberal arts: humanities, ethics, morals, and so on.

I want to say it again "Technology alone is not enough"
  • A comment on Conversation: To start a movement towards Password-free Internet access

Apr 19 2011: It could be a good movement but as you correctly mentioned there are some problems we should concern. Even though, in South Korea, there are lots of Password-free internet access points, it is ,in my opinion, dangerous to leave this wifi without password because these wifi points are vulnerable to many crimes or abuse.
So, my answer is that we should keep our personal wifi encrypted but the government should give free wifi points(even encrypted but free to use). We should focus on not password "free" internet access but "free of charge" or cheap internet access.
