About Me

I focus on building businesses from scratch. I’ve worked at start-ups, medium-size and large-size organizations. I've worked in the US, France, the UK and in Germany. I'm passionate about solving difficult problems, the ones a traditional marketing and sales approach can’t solve.

At Microsoft, I've helped build a start-up inside a big company: we took a small investment and built it into a multi-million dollar Analytics business across marketing, sales, partners, services and a few acquisitions. This year, Gartner acknowledged us as a Leader in their Business Intelligence Platforms Magic Quadrant...above everyone else on the Execution Axis.

More About Me

I'm passionate about

I want to Change the way people think of Data and Analytics...or Die Trying

An idea worth spreading

What if data and analytics were just part of our culture? What if our kids grew up with the ability to expect, respect data as part of their decision making process? If we can teach kids to learn a language, why can we not grow leaders who make decisions based on hard facts vs. gut feel?

Talk to me about

Analytics, Decision Making and instance that help make data beautiful...but more important...USEFUL.

People don't know that I'm good at

cooking from leftovers!

My TED Story

Analytics is perceived as a hard, complex and expensive science. My mission in life is to help them see that data and analytics are everywhere in our life. To see a preview of my work, check out my weekly TV show at www.bizintelligence.tv.

A comment on Talk: Bono: The good news on poverty (Yes, there's good news)

Mar 16 2013: "Facts, like People, want to be free" - best quote ever. Very well done Bono and congratulations on embracing your "inner Nerd" to go from an 'activist' to a fact-ivist. Entertaining, awesome.

A comment on Talk: Brené Brown: Listening to shame

Mar 16 2012: Brené is a fantastic and an authentic speaker. After I saw this talk at TED this year, I came back and shared it (plus the one she did at TedXhouston) with everyone I knew.

This talk is so powerful, it is difficult to find words to describe it. What's more - it gets better the more you listen to it (I must have watched it 20+ times at this point).

    AMAZING!

A comment on Talk: Andrew Stanton: The clues to a great story

Mar 7 2012: Great story telling! I love the joke at the beginning (even if a little risque) and the technique Andrew's using by starting with the end!

The guidance on making the audience care and making them work for their lunch is a great one.

I did notice a small slip at Min 8:50 - I think he meant for Woody to "prevent harm" and Marlin "to do what's best for his child", right?

A comment on Talk: Bryan Stevenson: We need to talk about an injustice

Mar 5 2012: I was at TED this week and this was my favorite talk. Bryan is authentic and talks about his cause with passion. Best quote in his speech: "the character of a society is not defined by how it treats the rich, but rather, by how it teaches its poor".

Feb 22 2012: This is a great speech and certainly very exciting to watch as we are preparing for TED next week!

@ Lucien - I just published a column on Forbes on Health Care and Data (last month I talked about Education and Data and it was pretty popular). See the article @ http://onforb.es/wGcZkZ

I'd love to get your opinion!
