John Lloyd: An inventory of the invisible
WOW!!! You have poor thinking skills. This is an example of how some people are dumber than others. Religion and their holy books are culminations of opinions, ideology, philosophy, and fables. You point the finger at intelligent people who think critically, and forget to realize how stupid you sound. He said we haven't yet created artificial stupidity, but we have created stupidity in us. If you really believe this world was created for us with a devine purpose, then I can't help but laugh. Sorry, but if you want to share your sillt beliefs, I have the right and reason to tell you your dumb. There was no devine creator who sent himself down to impetuosly empregnate a desert woman so he could sacrifice himself(which wasn't a sacrifice by definition), and to rise from the dead and tell his followers to eat his body and ask him to come into their hearts, so he can give them eternal life by removing the evil put there by a rib woman, who was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magic tree. Im not sorry, anyone who unshakably believes this is either mis-lead, ill-informed, delusional, or stupid.

Susan Blackmore: Memes and "temes"
Your argument is weak. You cannot compare mindless and puposeless waves to biological life. The waves are due too the moons gravity, wind, and other physical forces. Also, evolution isn't about survival of the fittest, but survival of the most adaptable. The T-Rex was probably the most physicallly dominant land animal in the history of the earth, but man small insects we able to out live it because they coul adapt better. Sure, there is cooperation in the environment, but not in the way you are saying it is. There is a balance of life. Without the carnivore the herbivore would eat all of the grass, without the herbivore there is no carnivore. However, the carnivore doesn't eat just enough of the herbivores to keep them from over eating because they are aware of it. This happens because the herbivores, over time, adapt to survive the carnivores. Continueing, the carnivores also adapt to become better predators. So, competition IS the prime impetus. Without competition there would be no change. Cooperation is a coincedence. Another coincedence is that everything we see in the world looks as though it has been designed by someone. Don't let what thinks 'look' like fool you.

Memetic condoms to prevent extremism
Look I know that you think(Vigot) it is wrong to impose beliefs onto people, but, in school you MUST learn Algebra, History, Reading, English. We are all pretty much forced to learn these things because you cannot pass if you don't. I think that teaching kids about every religion should also be FORCED. I believe that a seasoned understanding of the many religions and the extremist versions will help prevent exremism. We have to start somewhere class room is epitomal. If we are talking about the future then let us enfluence the future, which is our children. In America we blow off our religion. Not because of education, but because our lives are so much easier and suffer free compared to other realigiously extreme countries. Because we have glutton lives, we don't have many reason become martyrs. 100 years from now though, I wouldn't be suprised to see that 80% are non religious. (Well I would actually because if I could see I would be 127 years old :). Bottom line, people just don't understand enough about how their brain works and Diane makes a great point that we should educate ourselves.

Where on the continuum does religion become extremism? Is extremism a cognitive disorder?
Diane, I totally agree with you. At one point in my life I was actually willing to die for God. How? If someone put a gun to my head and asked if I believed in God and, Iif I said yes, would be shot, I would have said yes. Why would I have said yes? Out of fear that I would go to hell. Death seemed like a better option. Then however, I educated myself on religion, evolution ect and came to the conclusion that half the world is deluded. These poisonous memes need antecdotes. People once thought AIDS would kill man kind but we stopped it. But we must stand in absolute AWE of the mighty religion and ask ourselves if we can ever cure this disease.

Dan Dennett: Let's teach religion -- all religion -- in schools
Yeah, exactly. Amputees never get healed. A person recovers from cancer, thats science. The world is rid of science, that would be God. 9 million kids under 5 die a yeard, 4 million are newborns and most of it is because of malnutrition Why is this? Why would god, if he existed, heal you and ignore hte prayers of all of those innocent babies who never got a chance? Oh, thats right, because god was too busy answering the prayers of "I need a raise", "I want to win the lottery", "I want this girl", "Let me get a new xbox". Think about it, you're intillectually poisoned.

Jane Goodall: What separates us from chimpanzees?
If you look around, at the reality of things, you will find NO god. 9 million kids under 5 die a year. 41% are newborns. If there is a god, he eats babies for dinner. If there is a god, he doesnt answer prayers, or if he does its only the prayers of the corrupt. Sure, blame the evil in the world on original sin. You wacky believers love believing that we were all magically zapped here spontaneously, imperfectly created by our perfect dictator who reads all of our thoughts, answers ever prayer but only the ones that we need answered(expect the prayers of innocent babies because they cannot pray), cursed with the original sin that a rib woman gave us by soccumbing to the guiles of a talking snake to eat from a magic treee, think the earth is 6000k years old, and then cry 'blasphemy' when I call you dumb.

You 'think' you had experiences with god. You 'think' you felt him in your life. These are all meaningless to someone who has a basic understanding of the mind. People see what they want. You believe in god so when something good happens you think its god that did it to you. This is pathetic, sorry. You are mistaken your experiences for something else. Peple think the Earthquake in Japan was an act of god. NO! It was a simple act of nature. That Island is disruptive, just like cities being distroyed by hurricanes on the gulf coast. It isnt god its science. Clearly we dont know everything there is about the world. This fact is enough to ask: Since we dont know everything, how can you be so sure about god? The only reason you have unshakable faith is probably because ou were indoctrinised as a child. The reason people claim to see ghosts is because they believe in them, are scared of them, and MISTAKE many things for ghosts. Same thing. Someone offers you a great job and you drop to your needs and thank god as if he did this to you. Well, sorry buffy but if god did exist he wouldnt be worried about you. If he was worried he would'nt have the time because there are 9 millions kids under 5 that die every year, so get in line behind them because they are still waiting for theirs to be answered. You really think hes in your life and completely leaves out all of the desperate starving suffering innocent kids? You need a lesson in humility. God does not exist. If there is a god, he is wasteful, molevolent, evil, sick, drunk, and stupid because nothing on earth lasts long. Its so funny how people pretend to know what their god thinks.
