  • A comment on Conversation: How can we humans become immortal.

    Jul 2 2012: Hi ,Chandrasekaran
i don't know about the possibilities of humans becoming immortal, but about the consequences, i am pretty sure it wont be good for us and our planet.
being immortal is largely a personal thing. as a species all we should look forward is on survival of our kind. being immortal and surviving extinction are different things, i hope you understand.
other important thing is that, evolution of our species will stop by being immortal, i think you will agree with that. and without evolution we wont be able to cop with the changes of our environment and of our own life style. to survive we need to evolve and for that we should be a part of birth and death process.
just think of the case if our ancestors were immortal, our brains wouldn't have evolved and we wont be this intelligent and we would've been continuing their life style...and if we were continuing that life style who knows we would haven't been extinct by now. because everything around us were changing.

A reply on Conversation: Is feminism right or wrong?

    Jun 25 2012: Pat,
we are talking about the way people treating peoples. Nothing between government and people. In the case i said earlier, womens are not denied from the right for education legally. Its a culture that has to be changed not the laws first. We need to change that view of peoples about womens.. Women are beeing murderd there in the name of honor killings. A school head master was beheaded infront of his women students for teaching them.. And these domestic violences are not even treated as a murder. Men doesn't have these kind of restrictions on the other hand.
Ofcourse a war would be a bad idea to change these scenario.. A war for peace is stupid. What needed is organising peoples there who are against all these discriminations and start a movement against it. I'm sure that majority of youth is against it and same time helpless.

A reply on Conversation: Is feminism right or wrong?

Jun 24 2012: Pat, women in middle east are oppressed than in any other place in the world. That society thinks educated womens are not good to be included in the family. Because they might wont look after the old family members and doesn't do the house holds like uneducated womens. So lot of womens are not able to marry from their country, because they are educated. And for the same reason most parents wont send their daughters for education, worrying about their marriage. Lot of womens stay isolated from society because of this reason. I read about this recently in an article. That culture wont change with time if we keep on waiting, because it haven't changed yet. Its way past the time when those believes should have changed if time could change them. And the women there, are not bold enough to fight for their rights and place in the society rather than cursing their fate. So if someone could give them a support and show a way to earn their rights they might put up a fight..
  • A comment on Conversation: Can you tell me what motivates a man to get married? What is marriage to a man living today? Do you also have a theory of why women marry?

Jun 22 2012: i think love and the urge to stay together is the motivation for marriage, in most cases.
  • A comment on Conversation: What do you think is the biggest technological challenge the human race will face in the next 30 years?

Jun 22 2012: in preserving nature maybe....
  • A comment on Conversation: Is feminism right or wrong?

Jun 22 2012: I believe in equality as far as is possible..but there will never be true equality between males and females. feminist attitude was good for the society in early centuries where womens were treated way worser than now. but in this century things are different, womens now holds honorable positions in the society as mens do. most of the feminists urge womens to be tougher, to learn to fight, to learn to "play the game" in the world like men. women's value will not be in trying to imitate men, or in becoming more like men. women are not the same as men. ..there are differences and those differences should be celebrated not criticized.
  • A comment on Conversation: Why have people (Atheists) Chosen not to believe in God? Does this give freedom to live life without becoming answerable to anyone?

Jun 22 2012: atheism is not a religion to adopt or inherit from your parents. and being an atheist doesn't gives you the freedom to live without becoming answerable to anyone. you are still bound by the responsibilities and obligations just like anyone. but, if you mean god by saying "anyone", the answer is no.
  • A comment on Conversation: The biggest threat to mankind. What will end the world as we know ?

Jun 21 2012: we will survive only if we finds a way to keep the balance that we ourselves break. but, i think machines and nuclear weapons are not sufficient for that, even if those things are capable of a carnage, we can recover from all that. the only thing that can wipe us all out of this planet will be the Mother Nature itself.
we are definitely not heading towards an extinction, we will find a way to cope with all existing threats, like pollution and depletion of natural resources, soon. modern humans was here only for about 200,000 years, ain't that a too short time period for a species like us to be extinct from this planet?
