What's the difference between intelligence and imagination, and which is more useful in alleviating the human condition?
We all know people who are intelligent, able to understand difficult problems and solve them, but have little creativity (imagination). In the same way, we may know an artist who is creative in many ways, yet not uniquely intelligent. It seems they are different aspects or different mental abilities. What is missing from this discussion is wisdom. When we think of solving some of the mess we seem to be creating in our world, neither intelligence or creativity will be enough. The Manhattan project that created the atomic bomb was populated by perhaps the most intelligent, creative group of people ever assembled. Most of them knew what potential devastation they were creating, and yet they created it. Knowledge, intelligence, imagination, and wisdom all work together when we are operative at our maximum potential.

How does the discovery of the Higgs boson affect our real life?
Our "real life" isn't just about food, clothing and housing. We aren't really living if we aren't exploring new ideas, using our curiosity and imagination. The idea that a particle with no mass is responsible for creating the mass of other particles is fascinating. It needs no other reason, just making me happy is enough.

Development or Destruction, where are we heading?
Naveen, we appear to be headed for a precipice, but we know it, and have the ability to change it. As always, the solution is through the middle; not looking back, but using our technical knowledge to solve the problems. I am 70 years old, and most of what has been development has happened in my lifetime. Most of it has been for the good, but we have ignored the problems, like pollution and drug-resistant pathogens. The solutions will be many and they will be very expensive. But it can be done.

How could we relate to the world around us without the concept of time?
Some of the descriptions of the 9 or 11 dimensions of the universe, and multiple universes make me think that THIS universe is a time/space universe, but that there could be parallel universes that consist of dimensions 5, 6 and 7, which are curled up, and so have no dimensions, and therefore no time or space. In that universe we would be nothing but energy, and our whole life would be simultaneous. Talk about sensory overload, or underload, I'm not sure which.

Where do our thoughts come from?
I think the "Eureka" moments of brilliant inventors tell us a great deal about where thoughts come from. These creative people gather all the available information they can about the subject they are studying. They are very curious people, so they also collect information that is outside their area of expertise. We know that the brain assembles, organizes, and stores this information at the unconscious or subconscious level. When we are relaxed, this stored information comes to our consciousness in many combinations. Some are familiar and we accept them, some are nonsense and we reject them. Once in a while, the brain send back a new combination of the pieces we have collected. That is the "new" thought. I think.

Does living an authentic and vulnerable life make us "disposable" in today's culture?
I'm not sure I understand the question. Being authentic and vulnerable certainly exposes you to being considered "disposable" by some people in our culture. It seems to me that if you are authentic, you can't be trying to be acceptable to the "culture" of today's society. Following the path ".. less traveled by" guarantees that you will be an outsider. That is the natural price of that choice. I think it's a fair price to pay. Not everyone agrees.

What is a fiction and what is real?
If we are "real" then it would seem our feeling would necessarily be real. And yet it isn't so. If we are hypnotized and told that we are feeling a certain way, we will express that feeling. I think it would be hard to draw a line and say this is real and this is fiction. Everything we see and do is filtered through our mental processes, which are based on our life experiences.
