An idea worth spreading

Aim small and local, this effort combined will make an impact. Try opting for alternative transport, preferable pedal or wind powered! Or produce your own biodiesel. Make UK inland waterways legally accessible to all - only 2% of which is legally accessible to a member of the public, unbelievable. Laws were misinterpreted and altered over 600 years ago when before this time it was every persons right to access and roam waterways. Altering land usage rights and giving disused land over for vegetable production, green energy and closed loop sustainability projects, community involvement, educational resources and working toward harmony in life and nature

  I see. Such a broad range of equipment available. Perhaps a focus point would assist in choosing appropriate tools for learning and teaching. Maybe some of the budget could be put towards a going-green aspect, teaching the students the engineering/importance and usage of such things as wind, water turbines as electricity generators, perhaps solar panels as well. Maybe a small allotment to teach about cultivation, with some vegetables that everyone can take a part of producing and consuming?!
  That's just one set of ideas. Obviously a bit biased but I suppose my thinking is towards equipment and resources that are an investment as well as a learning aid. If the turbines were efficient then you may able to generate enough electricity to make an ongoing profit for the school, for example. It would also utilise the technology to teach the teachers new and exciting ways of living ecologically!If I think of anything else I'll let you know

  Mar 1 2011: I think the identification and expulsion of any bullying would be a great start, this probably has more impact on a childs learning, development and long-term effects than providing equipment or specialist learning resources. Unfortunately, it doesnt seem to be handled very well at all here in the U.K.! I suppose a nuturing, supportive environment is top of the bill for my perfect school! I guess this may not have been the answer you sought but just putting in what came to mind.
  A system whereby the individual is supported with their strengths and interests being nutured, not having a (sometimes life-irrelevant) cirriculum enforced. New topic areas such as ecology with practical living skills to ensure future generations can and will want to make a difference where it matters

  Feb 28 2011: Relevant points, especially considering the topic area. Although some of the proposed projects will offset the usage of fossil fuels by repairing the earths structure thereby rebuilding and adding to the eco-system. Some of these projects are also worthy of producing there own energy sources through a self-sufficient system. Considering the requirements of building such enterprises as a one-off task, it is therefore viable to consider them. Major elements of the design & production of which are also one-off so therefore will not incur an ongoing impact to the environment through supporting energies associated with fossil fuels. The production of these would, if successful, hypothetically speaking, be able not only in the long term to have "paid" for themselves ecologically speaking but will be generating "new" energies once the initial footprint was compensated for and overridden. This is all excusing the impossibility being able to measure or weigh up the value of the Earths. In summary to use the old adage, speculate to accumulate, assuming the end result is greater in terms of production of green-energies, repair to the eco-system and the encouragement of similiar schemes. The argument you make seems to be offering some other solutions i.e. using alternative materials or perhaps not taking any action. In a perfect world yes. Perhaps all of the work would be done voluntarily and through the establishment of co-operative movements? It seems that you may be able to offer some insight into the use of alternative materials? This would be of a great aid I feel.
  Bear in mind I am writing this will the belief that governmental powers and capitilism would be far from supportive of such ideology.. But here's to hoping
