• A comment on Conversation: How many languages is it possible to know?

  Apr 1 2013: It's important that we define what it means to 'know' a language. Is it a certain sensibility with a cultures idiomatic thought? Learning a language seems a continual imperative, it is just too easy to become complacent. With thought characterized by expression nobody can think by naming. In many ways this has more to do with definition and our discretion with it.
  
  I know your question had a more practical orientation than what I am referring to but it's consequential that the semantics of the issue is resolved.

  A comment on Conversation: Leaders are born not created.

  Mar 15 2012: To understand leadership I think we must begin with defining what it means to be a leader. I think a leader is anyone who is virtuous, that is anyone who is wise, wisdom can be interpreted as humility and creativity which are simply functions of perspective.With this in mind, I think that everyone has the potential to be a leader, this is because a true leader follows and allows just as much as she/he advises. In this way a flow of leaders and followers becomes a continuum where each realizes their temporal place.
  
  I haven't read all the posts here so I apologize if this has already been stated. The idea of a leader who points the way seems rather antiquated. However their are deep pockets of specializations and in some ways few people with a "general" expertise to connect these different fields. The question here is about communication, how we can be more cohesive and dynamic, a leader as a catalyst is certainly part of the solution but I think something less "spear headed" may be the next step.

  Jan 8 2012: I think it's true that all human affairs begin with subtle paradigm shifts while the current ethos still progresses under it's own inertia. But these are constant, it is an aggregation of technology and it's notions. You are insinuating some thing monstrous though which I do not foresee with our own accord. It will however be dictated by our own means. Our path has been unsustainable for quite some time and it is this that will give us no choice but to make this monumental change. Notwithstanding this it is only at the brink of collapse that we make our collective amends.

  A comment on Conversation: What is Creativity?

  Jan 8 2012: More than anything creativity is about connecting things and to do this one has to be a universalist rather than a specialist. Ultimately perspective is the function of creativity, another word for perspective is sympathy. If this isn't clear enough we can look at the converse which would be someone who only looks at direct results and focuses only on what is "relevant".
  It is a way of allowing emotions (and the reason for them) rather than resisting them. Creativity is imperative, even, in the most uncreative of situation for it is after all a reflection of humanity and not a doctrine asserted on to it.

  Dec 26 2011: Yes I think I will start a new conversation once this one is finished.
  
  I agree with most of what you said until you started calling it socialism. I mean you say "Who's in charge? Certainly not the people." So why call it socialism.
  
  "The second a society believes it can vote its way into more stuff, and it's politicians don't correct them, it is both socialist, and totalitarian".
  
  To me it sounds like what you mean is that once the people have political power to change their economic position they will invariably choose to alter it's state into something that is not feasible for them. I would say the same but substitute the word people with a portion of the people, naturally the business sector (investors), thus creating disparity within the population and also provoking an ideology that does not consider holistic consequences of its action. And so consistently leading society in a position way beyond their means.
  
  Should one completely separate the government and it's economy. If so is that even possible. If not how much should the government intervene, subsidies and foreign policy.

  Dec 26 2011: You said "top down mechanism", what do you mean by this. It could be interpreted in many different ways, for instance are you referring to the tendency for things to have a similar mechanism at different scales. If so it could be argued that CERN is using both top down and bottom up mechanism.
  
  Also I looked at some of your recent comments and found: "therefore Human Knowledge is the integral part of broad Nature Knowledge"
  
  So under this assumption you are suggesting that the Higgs Boson particle, under the consequence of quantum superposition, has both aspects of consciousness and somato? Meaning it is both physical and spiritual, both under the assumption of time/space and under no assumption at all (for a lack of a better way of saying it)?
