A comment on Conversation: Whatever happened to recess?

Feb 26 2011: Great question! My team encourages active play at work. On a daily basis, ad hoc play is encouraged, but on a team-wide basis we make it semi-mandatory. We've taken "field trips" to museums, local breweries, and the fire house. We also play croquet, have a weekly game day and we've even incorporated play into our interview process. Potential candidates have to work with existing team members to build a marble track together (it let's us gauge their level of creativity, collaboration, and their ability to embrace playfulness).

A comment on Conversation: What gives you WONDER in your life? ( TED2011 Theme )

Feb 26 2011: Life, the universe, and everything (thanks to Douglas Adams).
  • A comment on Conversation: Should the internet be a fundamental right?

Feb 26 2011: Sure. But I think there are some more basic rights we need to work on first, don't you?
  • A comment on Conversation: Could "dictator" be abolished from the global lexicon by 2012?

Feb 26 2011: It would be nice if it ceased to exist, however, I don't think it's happening anytime soon.
  • A comment on Conversation: Evolution of the modern dad

Feb 26 2011: I think it all depends on the family. However, I agree with Lee W. that unfortunately the balance is shifted toward mothers (at least in the U.S.) to raise the kids. While the trend is probably changing, I know lots of families in our local area in which the fathers work and most mothers are stay-at-homes.
