    May 2 2011: Hi Mike:

I was wondering about the cost/scale factors of making an app like this one. It's obviously much more expensive to produce than a simple e-book so are you projecting some sort of profit down the line after you sell x copies or (because it's Al Gore follow-up to An Inconvenient Truth) was this designed as an evangelizing tool?

In any case, I love the format and I think it's a bargain for the price.

  • A comment on Conversation: What's your favorite single sentence from a TEDTalk?

Feb 15 2011: When Ben Dunlap says for the second time "You are being paid double the wage of every other textile worker in the region and this is the way we do business. Any other questions?"

A comment on Conversation: How can we improve the TED translations project?

Feb 15 2011: There is another conversation in the ideas folder about translating the whole TED site to different languages (navigation, the about panels, etc.).
While this isn't exactly pertinent to your question, it would be an important step to get more people into the TED community.

Maybe later there could be an effort to translate into english the TEDx talks from different languages. There are some real gems out there which should be watched by a wider community.

A comment on Conversation: What's the best hidden gem in the TED archive?

Feb 15 2011: My grandfather was a Hungarian ex-pat and an excellent storyteller, which is why Ben Dunlap's talk always gets me watery-eyed.
Also, I doubt that there is a better delivered TED Talk than his. His flow, the way he uses his voice and body to get his words through is near perfect.
