I am passionate about getting into college, and making the most of it when you are there (enjoying the hours BEFORE 8 PM, not just those after). I am passionate about CTY.and technology.
Never underestimate a 16-year old who is committed to changing him or herself for the better. Education is about encouraging and providing language and concrete next steps. It is about treating 'smart' as something you get, not something you are. High school students can stick to Plan A and be successful, they just need help figuring out how!
Never equate 'hard to do' with 'not the right fit' when selecting colleges -- most teenagers I have met do actually want to accomplish something that is challenging, not just pick low-hanging fruit. Never label a student as a 'B student' or a 'C student' -- just make sure students are proud of the work they put their names on, and you will be amazed by how far they exceed your expectations.
Anything related to high school, college, graduate school or career
Unless you went to college with me, you probably don't know how much I like to sing. Also, I love baseball history and trivia, and my office is decorated with student sculpture, jewelry and art.
There's no story yet -- I was introduced to TED by Regina Saphier.
