  • A reply on Talk: Dan Ariely: What makes us feel good about our work?

Apr 14 2013: I wish we could move on to a society where we don't have to fear for our income every day. Where we could actually do what we love and not worry about how to turn it into money. I agree with you that right now, the best we can do is work part-time, spend little and do meaningful work in our free time. But that cannot be the only way!

This is one of the many reasons I support basic income or a moneyless society altogether. Or at least reducing work hours to 20 per week!

A comment on Talk: VS Ramachandran: The neurons that shaped civilization

Mar 26 2012: I wonder if you can do the anaesthetised hand experiment by sitting on your hand until it becomes numb, then watching someone having their hand touched :D

A reply on Conversation: How to help the present-oriented care about things that matter?

Mar 26 2012: Trusting intuition only works for a small amount of people who have built the character to make wise decisions in life and as you said, who are well-rested and feeling good. You cannot trust a kid who wants to eat junk food or watch tv all day long to use their intuition and still make right choices. It just isn't so simple. It might be for you but for most people, it would simply lead them to unhealthy lifestyles.

Mar 25 2012: Where is it you live that you can afford a lifestyle that does not take the future into account? By what you explain my first thoughts are of Buddhist monks. But even they'll have to ensure supplies of food :)
  • A reply on Conversation: How to help the present-oriented care about things that matter?

Mar 25 2012: Oh, of course you need to enjoy today and take part in life's little pleasures and they certainly matter, but I'm talking about people who don't find any joy in future-oriented things. People who don't have a healthy balance of time orientation. Because if you only live in the present, it's not sustainable.

Jan 6 2012: The Sun is a large energy source saving us from entropy for a while :)

A comment on Talk: Jane Fonda: Life's third act

Jan 5 2012: What I don't get is - why only do life reviews in the third act? Why couldn't we be whole already at the age of 20? ;)
  • A comment on Talk: Nigel Marsh: How to make work-life balance work

Feb 11 2011: I really like this new definition of success. Too easily forgotten when so many "don't have time" :(

Nothing better than great time with loved ones or quiet meditation by yourself :)
  • A reply on Talk: Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi: Flow, the secret to happiness

Jan 12 2011: I agree that attention (span) plays a part in achieving and sustaining flow. I've noticed how, if while reading I start to think about the reading itself, the flow breaks off and I cannot concentrate on the content anymore. Hence I'm very slow with books and should find a way to prevent myself from falling back to reality.

The article would be an interesting read, if you still have it :)
