Rick Warren: A life of purpose
Of the million books sold monthly, that he mentions, how many are read and worked on to the end? I was given one when I sold my business 8 years ago, but it is still on the shelf. Perhaps I will look at it again. Perhaps I won't. I have discovered other paths to my understanding of myself. I have discovered my purpose. By doing. Not reading.

Michelle Borkin: Can astronomers help doctors?
It's not just a collaboration between the branches of science that is necessary, it is still necessary to collaborate between the artists and the scientists. I heartily recommend the book Proust was a Neuroscientist. It is a non-fiction book written by Jonah Lehrer, first published in 2007. In it, Lehrer argues that many 20th and 21st-century discoveries of neuroscience are actually re-discoveries of insights made earlier by various artists, including Gertrude Stein, Walt Whitman, Paul C├ęzanne, Igor Stravinsky, and, as mentioned in the title, Marcel Proust. (Wikipedia) Also, the representations were so beautifully simple that with only a little instruction, the general public could probably not only understand but deduce what the doctors and scientists did. Hat's off to the aesthetic genes in all of the programmers.
