I was born in Stockholm, Sweden, and my childhood dream was to become a mad scientist. Teens were mostly spent on Industrial/Goth music and Dungeons&Dragons, but later in life it's more stuff like brewing craft beer, travelling the world to climb and scuba dive, and immersing myself in geek culture. I run a monthly nightclub in Stockholm where people can dance to chiptunes, drink beer and play with vintage video game consoles. Professionally I own a small computer consulting firm in Stockholm and spends every other month in Hong Kong where my wife works with technical design for a Swedish fashion company.

A reply on Talk: Jonas Eliasson: How to solve traffic jams
Will it work as the city grows, who knows? But the fact is that right now it does, It's supported by a vast majority of the citizens and the gains to society from people not spending an extra half hour or hour a day commuting are huge. What I'm saying is that it doesn't even matter if this works in ten years or not. If we outgrow it maybe we come up with something different, or maybe that's enough time for a major shift away from cars as people discover how much more efficient public transportation is. I'm not saying that self-driving cars wouldn't be great for congestion right now, and I don't see anything stopping us from having both, but it's also a temporary fix. It doesn't matter if the cars are driven by google, personal transportation is just not an option once a city reaches a certain density.
One last thing to also consider is that a city where people get more free time to spend either on doing more actual work, or with their kids, is a city that will become more prosperous. That monery will go into more daycare centers and clinics so poor people don't even have to drive across town to drop of their kids or to go to the doctor. Also, the latest infrastructure project that routes traffic around Stockholm is being funded to 80% by money from congestion charges.
A comment on Talk: Rick Falkvinge: I am a pirate
Edit: This has nothing to do with this talk itself, or whether I think Rick is Hitler or Jesus. But it spawned a whole train of thoughts in my head.. TED stands for "ideas worth spreading" but a lot of ideas will spread even they are really bad ideas. There are obviously a lot of "ideas not worth spreading" but is there such a thing as "ideas worth not spreading". and what would that be?

Android tablets will catch up even quicker. And in the end Android doesn't even have to be as powerful or innovative as the IOS. It's enough that it's a pretty decent clone, open to put on any third party hardware, and doesn't lock users and developers inside a cozy world where content is censored and conforms to strict visual guidelines. As soon as there is an easier way of getting paid for stuff you put on Android market, the guys upstairs will look at the market share graphs and put two and two together and tell their programmers to start developing for Android as their primary platform. Once Android devices have access to a larger and better app repository the iPad will be able to compete with the android tablets just as well as the old Apple Macs were able to compete with cheap IBM Compatibles flooding the market 20 years ago.
