  • A comment on Conversation: Why do I still have multiple cards in my wallet? Why can't we just have one card that we add new accounts to?

Feb 16 2011: It's not a question of a Card to be lost. It is the age-old question of Universal Identification.

The privacy folks will go non-linear with any system that promotes a Universal ID that permits folks to be remotely and/or anonymously identified. Protection against illegal search and seizure in the US....

Somebody cuts you off while driving? You know who they are. Somebody hacks into your account? You know who they are. Somebody cheats you on a deal? You know who they are. Somebody pranks you on the phone? You know who they are.

Sun Tzu speaks of the importance of deception and spies in the Art of War. Since so many consultants equate Business, Politics and Relationships to the Art of War, removing the ability to deceive will be fought at every turn.
  • A comment on Conversation: The frontier between Science and Art

Feb 16 2011: Science is the study of TRUTH -- The discovery of facts that can be supported or disproved through the proper use of the Scientific Method.

Art is the study of MEMBERSHIP -- The generation of various works that create an emergent affinity between itself and "beholders".

Both our understanding of the TRUTH (alignment with philosophical models) and our understanding of MEMBERSHIP (alignment with memes, fads, tastes and cultures) vary with time.

Both Science and Art follow similar development curves, however; Science seeks to find Integration among collections of things that appear different, while Art seeks to find Differentiation among collections of things that appear similar.
  • A comment on Conversation: Should Governments start to measure what really matters to people - their happiness? Or should they stay out of such a private matter?

Feb 16 2011: Double +1 for @Lee Coursey! First the government sets out to Measure it. Then they invent a moral obligation based on Social Justice to Tax, Regulate and Redistribute it. --No matter what "it" is.
  • A comment on Conversation: We spend 3 billion hours a week as a planet playing videogames. Is it worth it? How could it be MORE worth it?

Feb 16 2011: Gaming and Virtual Worlds are so popular because they are UNREGULATED by the political class. Have the cash for an additional Nuclear Power Plant? Go ahead and start construction. Want to design a new roller coaster? Start building -- No forms or permits to fill out and no need to grease the local Steel Workers Union.

Games unleash the potential of the Human Mind without shackling it to Energy and Material -- two things that are currently tightly controlled by the rulers. And if the rulers get their way, they will soon be controlling Information as well.

A comment on Talk: Conrad Wolfram: Teaching kids real math with computers

Nov 18 2010: Don't worry about solving the entire universe of Math. You will NEVER reach consensus -- there is just too much politics and too many embedded stakeholders. Just start teaching steps 1, 2 & 4 in your own sphere of influence and save as many minds as you can. Computation is easy to teach, easy to grade and as useless as learning how to hunt wild buffalo for food.
