About Me

As a pianist, chamber musician, vocal and diction coach, Daniela Candillari has worked in Europe and North America. She has collaborated with such artists as Carol Vaness, Martina Arroyo, and Håkan Hagegård.
Ms. Candillari was the first musician to win a Fulbright Scholarship from Slovenia. She received her Bachelor of Music and Masters Degree in Piano Performance from Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz, Austria, a Masters Degree in Jazz studies from Indiana University School of Music, and a Ph.D. in Musicology from the University in Vienna.
Ms. Candillari has given numerous recitals throughout Europe, United States, and Canada. Interests in chamber music and orchestral works have resulted in her various recording collaborations as well as radio and TV productions throughout Europe.
In recent years she developed a strong interest in multimedia projects, resulting in an invitation by Håkan Hagegård to Stockholm for performances of Dominick Argento’s From the Diary of Virginia Woolf and Ture Rangström’s Ur Kung Eriks Visor. Her most recent projects include a recital titled Northern Lights with Ørjan Hartveit, Adjustments, a video production with Pablo Rodriguez and Ted Strauss, and a production for Bravo Channel (Montréal) on TV series Shakespeare in Words and Music. In 2009 Ms. Candillari is scheduled to perform Schubert’s Song cycles, and recitals featuring music by Dominick Argento and Geirr Tveitt.
Ms. Candillari’s past engagements as a pianist/vocal coach include Lyrique-en-Mer (Belle Ile, France), Lidal North (Oslo, Norway), International Vocal Arts Institute (Montréal), AIMS (Graz, Austria), International Institute of Vocal Arts (Chiari, Italy), Charley Creek (Indiana), and Brevard Music Festival (North Carolina). Currently Ms. Candillari is engaged as Opera Coach at Indiana University Opera Theater, and at the same time is the Music Director for Carol Vaness’ Opera Scenes Workshop at Indiana University.
