Jun 3 2012: Yes I completely agree. I was concerned in the lecture that the examples he showed of the use of this technology were corporate-looking spaces and buildings. And THAT I find is part and parcel of the materialistic worldview that is the roots of the ecocide going on. Ie., if that same mindset use this technology they will use it with that same mindset, and so it is important to not just believe that introduction of 'free energy' is enough, but the deeper roots of our self-destruction needs looking into.
Feb 16 2011: You have to have feeling, soul, and also not let go of critical thinking. So in that spirit I will try answer you question. I look at this world--sheeesh!!! What do I see. I see people divided from each other because of religious beliefs. The big players are really coming from the Abrahamic belief system out of which branh Judiasm, Christianity, and Islam.
Wityh Judaism comes--for the fundamential believers the 'we are the chosen ones of God'. For the Christians 'ONLY through Jesus', and for the Muslims ONLY their God Allah is the right one, and they deserve the world, and their Shariah Law is brutal and medieval
Now, then you got the Richard Dawkin religion--he proudly calls it militant atheism. What do I see? A MECHANISTIC paradigm is what I see which stems FROm more so the Abrahamic belief systems which had already placed spirit outside nature, outside the body----hence its/theior demonization of peoples who had religions which were animist!
Who have I left out? The Eastern belief systems. Mostly world denying, and in India, the Caste system, and terrible poverty.
So it seems to me we need radical new thinking. Not exactly a going back to pre-everything I have said, but now we HAVE the internet and can LOOK at all these beliefs, ideas, etc etc--to REALLY look at the actual. What are we doing in this earth. What is HAPPENING to this earth which is our home and will be our childrens and their childrens home and is homes to millions of other species. ARE our stories helping is LIVE healthily. IF you are honest--dead honest, how do you FEEL? I think these questions are dead serious and are authetic religious questions which blow away the BS religious facade, and I include the Cult of Scientism in that too.
HAVE we lost feeling? Why have we? What will it mean to get it back and how will we? Can you stand alone doing this or do you need a group and/or leader. How serious and urgent do you sense this question is?
Feb 16 2011: isn't science about measure? I know that BOTH science and art ask questions. But hmmm doesn't art then just express?
I was reading this fascinating article a while ago about tthe Shipibo people:

This really blew me away. I am an artist also, and I just *love* this ;))) It surely IS science and art and~~~~Mystery.
With 'Know' there is ALWAYS its twin UNknown...
ps, if you search the title at Google Images, you see their art there too :)
Feb 16 2011: your research dont match with mine. I saw this excercise done with a classroom full of kid of about 12 years old. Some of them were playing violent video games and others not. When they ones who were playing the violent games were then showed news footage of real life violence their hearts rate stayed the same which differed from the other group.
Another part of this experiement had random kids picked out of the groups supposedly to have a real interview with an adult. it was set up of course. At the end of the adult's desk was a jar full of pens, and when he goes to reach for one he knocks of pens which go everywhere. The kids who had been playing the violent vids hardly flinched and didn't help the adult pick them up, whilst the others did. Ie, the former had lost empathy
Also from a BBC documentary, Panorama ‘Addicted to Games?’ (shown 6/12/10)--transcript: "Adrian Hon, Chief Creative, SixToStart “ I don’t think people understand just how powerful some game mechanics can be. It’s one thing to say I am playing too much, and to just stop playing, because some video games are designed in a manner so you just don’t want to leave.”
He [Adrian] says powerful psychological techniques are used such as ‘The Variable rate of Enforcement’ which works like a jackpot or slot machine [shows images of ‘lab rats’ being tested on pushing a button]. The idea developed after scientists discovered their victims – lab rats – taught to feed themselves by pressing a lever would press it obsessively when the food appeared randomly.
And people have found this works on humans as well. If you go give people a lever to press or a button to press and give them random rewards based on pressing that, they will do it all the time.
In games instead of food you randomly get extra lives or extra in-game features to keep you playing. The idea is to create a compulsion loop to keep us coming back for more. It’s simple but powerful and is thought to explain why people get addicted to slot machi"
Feb 16 2011: I think for many people now, especially the outh, there is a revulsion of science. And this is because there is basically a confusion between science and scientism. We are all of us scientific, in that most of us have a proclivity to ask questions. Many children have that spirit of inquiry (which I thankfully have kept), but often the 'education' system dumbs it down> A great person to read the where and whyfores in more depth about this is John Taylor Gatto.
Scientism or the CULT of Scientism tends to insist that there is 'only materialism', and any talk of spiritual experience is attacked as 'woo woo' and that 'OK we may not be able to anser now, but soome we will KNOW'. So you have this oppressive attitude which is imposed on everyone --as soon as children go to the enforced schooling system. And it also supports the mental illness myth where people, seen as machines, must take the 'medication' to put their chemicals right so they can once again be productive or at least be 'maintained' in the idea of 'normalcy'. A child doesn't fit in school? Drug him! But they must NOT be allowed to have access to entheogenins---oh no. 'Just say no'. And the culture is a liar, and makes wars for profit and is corrupt right to the top, and the youth are not dumb and they can sense this utter confusion all round, and the pretentious message that science is the utlimate truth getter--yet depsite that the planet earth has never been so under attack on all side from blind greed and soulesshness. So is it any wonder that young people (and other ages) massively distrust science?
You as tutor must become aware broadly what is going on in this world to understand the question your inquiring about (hope that is not patronizing. it's not meant to be), because many youths not are very savvy thanks to the Internet, and have a broader vision that others pre-WWW who could be more eaily controlled by the propaganda
So I recommend that you really study about scientism.
Sep 29 2010: I don't really trust evolutionary psychologists. They have been shown in history to be the worst conformists, and will feed the propaganda machine. How great the propaganda to on one hand say that we are inherently violent, but 'now' we are more peaceful--NOW being a time of great oppression including pharmacuetical pressure via its myth of mental illness!
Steven Pinker thinks it's less violent now. Wonder what the animals would say about that stateme--the ones he and his like do violence towards in the name of 'scientific experimentation'? MILLIONS of animals! Was that the case pre-Descartes..? I don't think so.
What about what our weapons are doing invisibaly and silently? Does Mr Pinker know about depleted uranium for example and its toxic effects for millions of years after their use, which even damage DNA. Is THAT NOT violence.
Could our ancestors have envisioned the violence done in Hiroshima? And the 'video game' kind of violence done by the soldiers of the technocracy.
